I have a military issue A2 jacket and it is nice, but there are a few mods that I had to have tailored in. First, the top flap front pockets are nice but the issue jacket has no pockets for your hands, so the first mod is to open up the side of the front pockets to create hand pockets. The second mod is that the underarm leather isn't long enough to let you raise your arms up to the sides without lifting the whole jacket, so the mod adds additional very soft vented leather underneath the arms to let you raise your arms. The third mod was a new more comfortable liner using a modern material instead of the plain brown cotton liner. The fourth mod was a SWA blood watermelon sewn into the inside back liner. The fifth mod was adding an inside zippered pocket to the inside right and a thin leather pen/pencil holder inside the left front.
If you can find a jacket with these mods you'll be happier than with an exact duplicate of the current USAF issue A2 jackets. I got mine tailored by Pops Leather in Turkey, however the pricing has gone up through the roof there so it isn't really a bargain shopping there anymore. I guess they got popular enough to start charging normal US retail prices for their stuff.
Also, make darn sure you get the sizing right... If the sleeves are too long or too short, or the shoulders are too tight or too loose, then it just looks sloppy.
