Adapt, improvise and overcome
« on: November 20, 2010, 05:42:40 PM »
As a 12+ year veteran of another "ww2 flight sim" that went the way of the buffalo...  I would like to offer a different perspective.

Take a second and imagine if you will... your beloved game.... AND community ceasing to exist, closing it's doors for good.

After a 12 year run...  I can tell you from experience....   THAT REALITY SUCKS.  Fortunately for me, an admitted genre addict...  I had AH to fill the void.

If the game is no longer fun to you....

1) bring your concerns to the powers that be, they seem genuinely interested in addressing customer concerns and appear to follow my thread title/motto... (but this reality is always in play... "you cant please everyone all the time")

2) YOU could try adapting, improvising and overcoming existing conditions yourself...  OR

3) maybe it's time for a break....  sometimes the old adage "absence makes the heart grow fonder" can be applicable to our pasttimes/hobbies. To quote a fellow longtime FA addict "You WILL be back"

Keep in mind, one persons "whine" is anothers "legitimate concern" and so long as we each pay our 15 bucks a month I say we pay for the right to express those concerns AND our differing opinions.

Fighter Ace stayed afloat for a long time with far fewer subscribers in recent years... All this "whining/backbiting/name-calling" just shows you are still passionate about YOUR game and IMO it's healthy so long as it doesn't get too vicious...

Basically I'm just saying don't take the good thing you've got for granted.

BTW a big "THANK YOU" for embracing and helping a displaced flight sim community to all that have done so.

1) This game updates far more frequently than FA did, and I dont know Hitech personally but I'm betting he likes the money he makes off keeping his clientele as happy as is humanly possible.

2) I'm not a marine either...(ex-Air Force)   but kinda like the principle behind the motto and happen to think it transcends any particular branch of the military.

3) Apparently the game is still fun enough for you... to prefer it to real life.

I'm an easy fish to hook....  :)  I like a good fight, whether it's in the air or in the forums

nice post Nish,

some people still think that this game doesn't get updated enough but over the last 5 years here We have seen a great deal of work and it is continually evolving.

People take things for granted all too easily and for all the haters out there I laugh at them when I go piling into our new uncapped arena.   Every front line base full of dar bars and 20 vs 20 furballs is what makes AH for me.   Long may they continue.
