I really just discovered Top gear about almost a year ago.  It was great, I fell in love with it and had 13 seasons to rely upon to an orgy of entertainment.  Cannot be topped.  I could tell just from the US commercial that there was no chemistry with these presenters and were clearly missing the point of what makes the original so epic.

Now I've seen them all, and can't wait for the next seasons to air.

US Topgear imo has better time trial track compared to UK version.  I think it would be even better if it had elevation changes :rock

i never even watched it. trhere is no way in hell that any us company will match the british top gear. those guys are the middle aged british three stooges of the car world.
 anything else is just junk.

and BTW they're playing ice hockey with suzuki swifts asi type this.  :rofl :rofl

You watch Top Gear for the time trials?  :huh

(Image removed from quote.)

Exactly...  I sometimes skip through the time trials and interview segments.  It's all about the comedy for me.

Besides now that the Stig (Ben Collins) has outed himself and is gone, (still can't believe the BBC lost that law suit, I guess it's contract shmomtract in Britain) who knows if they'll even do time trials anymore.

First of all you guys realize TG America is produced by the TG UK company, they have been trying to get an American version going here for a few years now.

However, I do agree that it felt flat and forced.  The chemistry between the hosts isn't there. Maybe the chemistry will develop over time.  Originally this version was supposed to have Adam Carrola as 1 of the host, I think he may have helped.  I think a big part of it will be their ability to ad lib. Also how much criticism will they be aloud to dish out? They need advertising dollars that, at times, will come from the car companies loaning them cars to test. ( Porsche ) They were in love with all the cars they tested with the exception of the Suzuki.  Come on, drive the Lamborghini then get out and tell me why I shouldn't spend part of my millions buying it.( hey, you never know when you might win the lotto. )
You can tell the American hosts are novices to top end cars they drool too much. They need an air of snobbery that says "that's fine but I know there is better so I'll hold onto my money. "

I know it was only one episode but, like cars, you never buy the first model year, you wait for the kinks to get worked out.

I'll probably watch it anyways.

I only saw it in the background when I flipped to History for something else after Dirty Jobs was over (Mike Rowe is the coolest guy on the planet. They should get him to host it). I only really watched when they had Buzz Aldrin on.

Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I thought I read somewhere that they had tried to get him but he didn't bite.  Adam Ferrara can be funny, I've seen it when he's been on Rescue Me but the show just seemed way too scripted and flat.  I'll give it a little time and see how it pans out.  I think the potential is there if they can just loosen up and have a good time and get a little arrogance about them.  I think that is honestly one thing about the UK version like has been said before.  They'll find everything wrong with a car that they can and it's great.

Adam Carolla and a few others shot a Top Gear pilot around 5 years ago.  The reviews said it was better than Top Gear Australia.  From what I seen of it, it was truly entertaining, and it didn't try at all to emulate the original.  The networks decided not to pick it up, and no more episodes were shot.

Now they give us this piece of crap...at least it won't make it to a 2nd season
