I think it has been said before but find a local steel fabricator/engineer workshop. for something like that a dozen beer and it will be done...hmmmm that's just a teaser pack I forgot you're from Germany...best make it 2 dozen  :D :lol :lol

Oh yeah and I used to be under the assumption that a torch and hammer fixes all...had work for years. That was till I got a sabresaw...It's the greatest tool ever...I don't think there is anything it can't do  :lol :lol :lol :lol

Have you not heard the phrase 'it's easier to get forgiven than get permission'?  You just go buy them and explain later.   :devil

All you young guys take note, this is gold, right here.   :old:  You've got to be careful not to pull this one out too often though or she might get wise.

I like the previous idea of bringing it to a machine shop.

Call around, tell them you'll buy them lunch if they remove the broken bolt for you. With the right tools, it won't take more than 15 minutes.

Just as the game was getting fun again, a screw in my simped pedals broke (after more than 8000 hours AH). I can't remove the part that is stuck. I'm grounded for now  :cry

I fixed mine by drop kicking it into the wall and getting a new 1.

The small size of that screw, combined with the fact that it's sitting deep in that small hole, lack of tools & skillz make fixing it myself not an option.
I just mailed the manufacturer, hoping to be able to get a replacement part. Until then, I'm reduced to flying bombers.

What is the base made out of?

It's a plastic frame partly filled up with something like chalk (no kidding - it may read flimsy, but the actual construction proved to be very durable)

The reason I asked what material the base was made is because soft materials like aluminum, or plastic have a tendency to distort the threads making removing broken bolts more difficult.

Can you tell if the bolt was screwed in, or was it epoxied into place? A lot of times manufacturers use a fluted stud molded, or epoxied into a plastic base. Which will make removing it harder.
