friggin stupid idea, whoever said that it was something for people to slap themselves on the back, and ''helping'' for awarness hit the nail on the head.                      and just so some of you know, abusers are not always drunks. some you'd never know unless you saw it with your own eyes, and that they save special for the ones they ''love'' so an outsider will never see it.

So you think your $1 actually helps? I hardly think so, after all the money that has gone into trying to stop cancer.

$1... no, that probably won't help.

The $301,328,691 donated last year alone or
the $1,500,000,000 raised over the life of the Susan G. Komen foundation might have a little impact.

Just last year, the Susan G. Komen foundation spent about $70 million on research, $135 million on health education, $40 million on health screenings, and $22 million on treatment services.

As for cancer research as a whole, $70 million only makes up a small percentage of the research funding sure.  But are you going to look me in the eye, no better yet; are you going to look a Cancer survivor in the eye, or the daughter of a woman who lost her battle with cancer and tell me that breast cancer awareness is inconsequential?

It's the easy way out, why actually donate or volunteer when you can just change your facebook picture and suddenly you're sensitive, caring, and helping?

I play bass at a church on Sundays, during the week I volunteer at an old folks home by my house, but I also run in relay for life every year.

I also changed my facebook profile picture to a cartoon character.

Good, I didn't mean to imply that people didn't do anything, but which one of those do you think actually has an impact on people's lives?

I wear a pink ribbon everyday, for me it's a personal thing to show support for my wife who is a breast cancer survivor. What you do with your facebook is your thing, but remember they are doing this for what, one month? So for the other eleven months nobody but a select few care. People in similar situations to me show our support and care on a daily basis year round and no it isn't to make us feel better.

Yikes, they sent you a message? Send them a picture of a rattle, and tell em to keep making noise!

Ahhh... I know that stuff.

I'm not on facebook, but I have a profile on tiny local german "social community"...

Recently, mainly lesser educated middle aged women started to have a cut&paste text with rantings about abusers, misguided facts about them never get punished and so on. The usual crowd knowledge. And at the end an appeal "If you are against abuse, copy this text into your profile".

I already had two private messages asking why I don't have that text copied into my profile and asking me if I do not condemn abuse of children
