Love that movie.

It does remind me of something a 39th FS pilot Wayne P Rothgeb said about one of the guys in his squadron.

Harvey Clymer played an accordion. Loved to fix things. His survival pack was a supply depot: guns, matches, fishing tackle, sewing kit, trinkets for islanders, medicines, mirror, and clothing.  He spent leave time searching for additional items. Never had to use them.
