Randomize the GV Spawns over a much larger area.
« on: December 08, 2010, 09:32:44 AM »
It seems to me that the GV spawns do not cover a wide enough area or randomize the location of a spawning vehicle enough to prevent a single tank from completely shutting down a spawn area. Spawning ten times and getting killed before you can even rotate the gun on the enemy seems silly.
It's natural for folks to creep towards the spawn, wether to be first in line for the action in the case of multiple friendlies, or to narrow the area in which an enemy can be located. But that area shouldn't be a single point. This becomes a combat ender.

perhaps the spawn area can be widened, and placement insided it when Spawning can be more randomized.

This seems to help with the spawn campers, but beware, they will whine about it.

The best way to counter spawn camping is to have each of the 8 available directions able to be spawned from in the gv hanger to be utilized.  I do not recall each and every spawn direction (I'll call it prospective spawn point) utilized on any of the VH's.  Having another spawn point maybe 1000 yards from the center of the field would help stave off the spawn hanger campers.  Also, if there is only a single spawn point to the NE towards an enemy base, then having another spawn point to the N perhaps 2k yards to a flank of the NE point would very helpful.  It would at least allow the gv's spawning in to have a fighting chance.

I've thought this would work well myself. I love tank battles, but find camping a spawn to be boring after about five minutes.   +1

Gv spawns are fine the way the are.  The PT spawns NEED spread out, they spawn in the same spot every time.

The spawns have been spread out. They used to be very small areas and one tank could camp it pretty easy. Now we have trees and hills plus the spawn area is much bigger now except at a very few bases like V85 from V76 and V88 to v85. If I am camping a spawn now I am most likely very far away from the spawn site and making long range shots. This way I can see more tanks as they spawn in and it is harder to be spotted and have return fire.

spawn area.never mind the spawn. how about the dang ricochets i had a t-34/35 and was shooting at a panzer from about 40m and 20 of my rounds kept bouncing off his tank. what's up with that....so even if you in the spawn and you get your turret around tank rounds bouncing off what matter.

Even funnier when I wax an IL2 (or 3-4 of them) with my main gun.

If a spawn is camped i feel like the fight is over there, move to a different spawn and roll in if there is one close, or just give up.  As Tec said once:

There are two basic types of "spawn camping".  There is the "spawn battle" which happens thanks to most maps having spawns right on top of each other.  So if I'm sitting on my spawn, and you're sitting on yours and we're 1.5k apart shooting at each other then we're both lame campers and it's no harm no foul.  Then there is the "you attacked our base we pushed you all the way back to your spawn and you aren't smart enough to quit" spawn camp.  Face it if you are getting vulched/camped then you have basically already lost the battle, in the real world you would be dead and we would be pillaging your homes and raping your sheep.

If you guys can't grasp this, or have some nervous tick that causes you to click the spawn button over and over again then maybe HTC could implement some sort of system where if (X) number of vehicles dies within a given time (Y) within (Z) yards of the spawn then an arena message comes up declaring that spawn inactive for 30 minutes.  Then all the campers will land and go elsewhere and in 30 minutes you can attempt your attack again.

this and when an enemy tank is in the middle of the spawn the spawn seems to spread out more...

Anyone ever think of massing a 30 GV attack on V85 when the spawn is camped? id love to see that happen!!! :rofl

True, but this assumes everyone on the friendly team is in agreement that they want the battle to be over. I've been in situations where one friendly camps the spawn, but there are 4 tanks holding back who are looking to fight the four enemy that are trying to spawn and move up to engage. "hey, dude can you back away from the spawn the we can have an actual fight?" "Up yours, it's my $14.95 a month and I'll do what I want."

One person camping and shutting down a spawn seems detrimental to quality game play for both teams.  The bigger the area the more folks it would take to close the spawn, which would still make it possible to close, but it would have to more a democratic process. One is two few.
