Weather
« on: December 10, 2010, 01:56:52 PM »
Would it be possible / or does it already exist , to have a weather feature online for us wanna be pilots?  Was watching some crosswind landings and they look challenging.  Like a airplane autocross in the TA.... thoughts?

weather has been brought up alot here lately. If you want wind and all go to the AvA they have some wind in there, also a few scenarios had wind. Check it out or if ya wanna play around go to offline and you can set the wind to whatever direction and speed you would like.

As DERK said just do it offline, however I'm not sure how realistic the physics computer would work with the winds on.

I never really liked FSX, you can fly IFR there but the physics computer sucks.

I defiantly agree that we need weather but why would you want bad weather? Would you want to log on and sit in the tower because the weather sucks?

Clouds, precipitation and lighting conditions all play such a huge part of being pilot.  I view them as an exciting and important part of being a fighter pilot.  It's shame that many players of this game can't see the fun in it. ....oh well I can dream can't I?

we used to have some cool features like 5min of night time ....a cold front etc...  ...so the game has the ability to do many things

I vote hell yes for weather!

.....and BEFORE anybody starts complaining .....nobody is advocating we fly in category 5 hurricanes

....we are just asking for 20% more clouds ...some light rain or snow?  ...maybe some ground fog?

It's the stock aircraft model, not the physics engine.

If you get some well-done aftermarket aircraft, the simulator really comes to life.

I hear what you are saying though.

There is no such thing as a crosswind landing on a carrier.  At least there shouldn't be.

A slight drizzle with gray overcast would be nice to see once in a while compared to bright and happy summer.
