Quote
RealGM Staff Report - Brett Favre's consecutive starts streak may be over at 297, but he's trying to make some money off the event.

Favre was inactive for Minnesota's game against the New York Giants on Monday night. It was the first time since 1992 that he hasn't started a game.

"One of the most historic streaks ever in all of sports has come to an end," reads the advertisement on Favre's personal web site. "The NFL's own Ironman Brett Favre has ended his consecutive starting game streak at 297."

The footballs are on sale for $499.99 and the site says a "portion of all proceeds will go to the Favre 4 Hope Foundation."

that should have ended four years ago when he retired from green bay.

Mind you I'm not a packers fan at all, I am still crabby after superbowl XXXI.  I just think he's a dog who should have retired gracefully years ago rather than drag out his slow decent. He has utterly destroyed his once stellar reputation.

Its over man, let it go.

He was, about 5-10 years ago, but he's since descended into meh.

I didnt like it when he 'retired' then came back to the jets, then 'retired' and came back to the vikings (screwing the packers) and 'retired' and came back again.

Well, lets look at his stats last year...

Best numbers of his career

Brian Billick and Jim Mora Jr. said it best last night, let the man play football, because once its gone, its gone. If he felt like he could play, then he could.

I'm a long time Vikings fan.. since back when Tarkington was still driving the bus.

2009 was the most fun and exciting season to watch them play that I can remember.

No matter what happens from then on, he gave me that one season.  I will always be grateful to him for that.

Oh stop, you're makin me all misty.

Favre is a pill poppin, womanizing weenie. End of story.

In fairness, I must admit to being a Bears fan. (He was the bane of my existence for many years. In fact, I'll still honor the hit I have out on him.  :lol )

I can understand how he could do that. He loves playing the game. After so many years at the end of each season its entirely reasonable to think that anyone might have doubts about wanting to play again. then springtime rolls around then summer. And your body feels better And you feel like you should be doing something and you miss it and you realize you can still do it at a pretty high level as was proved last year. So why not come back if its something you love.
Hell, it has to be 15-20 ears since I've so much as played a pickup game of touch. And I'd still like to play just one more game. though I know at 48, that would probobly be a really really big mistake lol.
Its been at least 10 years since I've coached Pop Warner. And every summer I still wish I was out there. Football. Real football. Not the kind you watch on TV. Thats only real to them. real football is something your involved in. something you take part in/of. It gets in your blood. If youve never been a part of it there is no way I can ever explain it to you. but if you have. then you know exactly what I'm talking about.
Once it becomes a part of you. its easy to say "I've had enough. I quit." but its much harder to actually do.

To put some kind of perspective on it. How many have said "I quit AH. Only to keep coming back a few weeks or months later?
Same kinda thing.

I think this year after the championship game he had every intention of not playing till he was talked out of it. and it hasnt been a great year.
Granted Favre hasnt played well. but it hasnt been all his fault either. thanks to tildeath I've been able to watch almost ever game this year. and its hard to play at a high level when your missing your favorite target for 2/3 of the year (Rice) and your go to man (Taylor)on 3rd down moved to another team.
Add to that and offensive line thats played very poorly and the remaining receivers running wrong routes, Dropping balls and sometimes flat out falling down isnt going to get you a very high QB rating.

(Image removed from quote.)

And it took handing the Saints the game 4 times BEFORE the Favre interception for the Saints to decided to not loose.

Saints didnt win that game. the Vikes handed it to them...several times
