I think the problem with the AW KW arena was that jets were always enabled.  I'd prefer to see them perked, and have the base of the arena remain prop planes.  I'm probably in the minority.

If there was going to be a Korea arena in AH, you're right in that at least the F-86E would have to be perked, otherwise you'd just have an arena full of Sabres fighting each other.

P51s were the most widely used plane in Korea iirc... but iirc also that the North Koreans didnt use any prop planes but just the Russian Migs... And from battling in 262s i know for a fact that the Mig15 and the F86 wont be blackouts all the time. (no, i havent just fought high Gs in 262s just in jet week...)

Communist forces also flew the Yak and many other prop planes during the Korean War.

Nobody remembers the Korean War weekend we did a few years back?

(Image removed from quote.)

Kind of makes one wonder if that is a genuine screenshot, or just something photoshopped... the world may never know (at least not for a couple of weeks)

Not to mention a lot of US piston planes like the F-51/-82/B-26 invader (it switched to B designator)/F4-U/Skyraider/Bearcat and a few others as well as the B-29's etc...

All the Best...

Talking about fighter aircraft, Yak-9P was brief service. A lesser type, Yak-18 also saw combat.

Yak-9U also saw service with the NK air force as well as the Yak-11 and Yak-16.

One thing I didn't know was that the B-17 also saw action during Korea, not as a bomber but as a SAR aircraft.

Pretty sure FR had one, too.  It was difficult not to black out all the time in the jets.

I recall a FR Korea arena as well.

Add in the Shooting star (American jet that could be perked in Late War)

Never saw any combat in WW2, so it couldn't be perked in the LW arenas as it wouldn't qualify to be added to the WW2 planeset.

This is a good site that has a chronological timeline of the planes introduced on each side during the Korean War.

Korean Air War and Surrounding Events.

This is another site that has a nice .pdf on the enemy planes that the US expected to see in combat as well as an analysis of what kind of enemy planes the US and UN forces will face as the war dragged on.  Sadly, I can't find the complete report, just this section on enemy planes.

Enemy planes in Korea

Also note for the person said that the La-7 didn't see action, well on 06/29/1950, a B-29 damaged a Yak 9 and a La-7.

Do you have source for Yak-9U being there? I haven't seen one. Several lesser Yak-types were flown, yes.

Finns also claimed to have shot down Spitfires, P-51s and even a P-38 during WWII, yet none of them appeared on our front. Misidentification of enemy types in a war is common place. That article for example talks about Yak-3 which certainly wasn't in Korea. It is a written with the knowledge of that time. I haven't heard of any NK/USSR units that used La-7s in the war, there's plenty of La-7 claims though.

Some of us have been waiting along time for a Korean theater!

Here are some planes to think about:

From the link I posted with the chronological events of the Korean air war.

Quote
500625 (06/25/1950) 0400 hours -- KPA commences "First (Seoul) Phase"
KPAFAC starts war with 239 aircraft, of which 129 are Yaks and 43 are Il-10s; the remainer are Po-2, Yak-11, Yak-16, or Yak-18 types.
KPAFAC Attacks -- Yak-9P and Yak-9U committed to combat.
USAF SB-17 and RB-29 committed to combat
0900 -- US Embassy determines that all-out offensive had begun.
