ATI Radeon 64 meg...
« on: April 19, 2001, 01:04:00 PM »
...card is sitting out in the truck, along with another 128 meg ram. Opinions on the ATI? I know fatty likes it. Anybody else?

Also, I have a Diamond Viper 770 ultra and an ATI all-in-wonder 128 for sale, if anybody wants 'em. I made all my realplayer movies on the assassins webpage with the all-in-wonder (link below). $50 bucks for the 770, $80 for the ATI. Email me if interested.

Hi Hblair,
I've been running one of these now for a couple of months. Nothing of any note to report (Which is good in my opinion).   Get the latest drivers though if you have DX8a. Apart from that It loaded and set up 1st time. Good framerates (Even in smoke). Nice colours and if you get the "Radion Tweaker" from the Rage site they ain't much you can't do with it. In short I like it a lot (I'll leave the technical reports to the more qualified).

lol.  Animal,..I really do not care about video cards.  I use the Radeon, and I have a GF2 GTS Pro and Ultra cards sitting right here as well.
Both those GF2 cards are faster, the GTS Pro is only marginally faster, but the Radeon display just looks more natural, or as natural as a computer can do these days.  It also draws far less power than the GF2 cards.  Cooling is not a problem.
Bang for the buck definately goes to the Radeon, if it is the 64MB DDR card (I would not get any other Radeon).
ATI has always had problems with video drivers, but they seem to have gotten it quite right for the Radeon.
Both NVidia and ATI have oddities about thier products.  I would not really call them bugs, just differences.
hblair, if you will be replacing a video card, please read this http://www.benchdata.com/hints/install.html
It may help avoid some rather nasty side effects of replacing a video card.

There ya go.

Hmmm...I got one of those Radeon 64 DDR. It's GREAT..
The only problem is...well, the the FPS don't read too well after 100.

Now, lets talk about the REAL problem...why the heck is that great hunk o' hardware out in your truck? Waiting for your wife to fall asleep?   That's cool..take it from me.Remove and hide the box. Then, place it in a old beat up box with the return address showing.."Animal". She'll hug you and thank you for going the cheapest route.
