My own experience with my 2 brand new 27"; HP2710m and View Sonic VX2739wm
Overall impression: Very similar and a bit disappointed that for over $100 more in retail price for the 2710m the HP doesn't perform better.
Very similar specs that you can see online.
http://www.all-monitors.com/compares/viewsonic_vx2739wm_vs_hp_2710mSame sharpness, same crappy speakers, both short stands although the HP is much shorter.
I still don't know which 1 too keep!! - assuming that I can fix the "green" issue with the HP.
View Sonic
Pros :
-Cheaper
-More actual view space, 1/4" in each direction
-More realistic colors- more colors temps to chose from.
-Matte finish of the panel ( doesn't reflect light around ) to reduce glare.
-4 very handy USB ports
-higher response time - even though no1 can tell the difference.
-Better looking, slick, and overall size smaller due to the more narrow bezel.
Cons:
Lightness uniformity varies slightly more than the HP.
Angle view, from above, shows darker area in the middle
Many OSD controls are disabled.
HP 2710m
Pros:
Many more OSD controls for sharpness and image adjustments
Better view from different angles
A slight less "blueish" colors.
Brighter overall. increasing brightness and contrast doesn't ruin image as fast as the View sonic. But who needs it?
Out of the box has 75 hertz available.
Cons:
A green tint that I can't get rid of. Tried with the monitor's control and the ATI catalyst controls. Installed latest ATI drivers. No go.
No USB
The stand very short. Both monitors have no height adjustments.
Glare
The green issue-not sure if it shows- the left 1 the green HP:
More controls on the ( left ) HP. The view sonic has them disables and can't seem to access them.
Sharpness is very useful and the View Sonic has it disabled but it looks as good as the HP by default.
Looking from the top, the view sonic has a dark middle band. If both monitors were not raised like I did and relied on the height of the stands, it would be a problem.
From bottom looking up they both have a dark band at the top.
Now, unrelated....as I reinstalled the ATI drivers, first from ATI then, starting over, from the vid car manufacturer I couldn't get all the drivers installed. See the error in device manager. Pointed XP to the same location where all the drivers are ( C:\ATI\Support ) and system32. But no luck. Strangely everything is working. Hopefully some1 has a suggestion
