I don't know how much a .22 would do on zombies.

Actually, .22s are actually good with Zombies, because the rounds don't have the penatrating power to go all the way through one's

head, so it rattles around inside it.

In all of the what if Zombie threads I've ever seen I've never once heard anybody mention claymores.

How about a flamethrower for close in and some napalm for extra crispy zombies?

That is actually the reason my friend bought a .22 over a .357

claymores are one time use, and very loud, drawing even more attention, booby traps and even bear traps would work good.

Me and my friends have done some experiments and came to the conclusion that the Zombie condition is caused by a parasite that, once mature settles in the brain. It secretes a mucus which causes the host to lose advanced brain function, leaving the stem and primative functions in tact. The larva are most abundant in the sinus cavity and saliva, explaining why bites are the primary cause of infection. Science.

Re: whoever said get a boat and go to an island...
most ports and ocean front estates have a high population density. I for one would not want to risk traveling to a port, then trying to clear out a close-quarters vessel.

ahh but I didn't share the rest of my nefarious plan.. you MAKE noise when pulling up about 200 yards from shore. Let the come a shambling out to the beach an pick them off one by one  :devil

That said.. if a shark eats a zombie will it become infected and thus a zombie shark?  Can you imagine a great white zombie? *shudders*

I don't think that it would transfer. Most diseases are only spread through one species, and things like avarian flu or swin flu are mutations. Most predators would not eat a zombie because they do not like rotting flesh. The only animals that would dine on the dead are scavengers, and they unique digestive systems that can digest rotting foods, so I do not think we would see zombie animals.  Just an increase in scavengers (cyotes, crows, vultures)
However since you are wanting to fear animals as well, there would be escaped animals from zoos, packs of wild dogs, etc.

The fire won't kill them immediately, they wouldn't notice the pain at all, they'd just keep coming until the fire destroyed the brain.  Basically you'd end up with roving torches coming after you burning your shelter and forcing you out amongst them.  Same with booby traps, only a headshot from one of the bearings inside the claymore would do any damage, the rest would tear through harmlessly.  You'd attract a lot of attention and do yourself no good at all.

A Saiga 12 with a 30 round drum would be perfect close quarter zombie mess maker.  For shooting them more stand off I can use my Sig 516 .  It gets a forward verticle grip for Christmas :D

well I was thinking of setting them up about 5 ft and aiming them up at a 35 degree angle.  Oh and I wasn't planning on being close.  Minimum of 500 yards away :D
