If I am NOT mistaken, in real life, when landing on a CV, as you touchdown you must jam the throttle forward in case you missed the wire or the wire breaks, you have enough power to take off again and don't splash into the sea directly in front of the carrier path.
I used to experience the 'sling shot' effect described, because I would power up just at touchdown. I found out / figured out that in here, the power up against the arresting-wire, caused the slingshot and will throw you off the back or off the right-back of the CV.
Easy fix..... don't power up on landing.
