I should have a Saitek X36 system...
« on: May 14, 2001, 03:02:00 PM »
when I get home today!!  bastards couldn't 2nd day air it to my apartment and none were in stores here in town so I've been waiting a week.  Needless to say, I'm pretty excited about having a HOTAS setup, not to mention my view hat on the logitech is going to hell.  I lost a spit the other day because I couldn't look right, the viewhat kept going up instead!

Anyways, any quirks I should know about?  Win98SE and DX8a installed already, and I don't have external rudders yet (I'll get some when I can afford another computer expense.)

Thx for any/all help!

ps - I'll probably make my own profile/setup, I generally like buttons a little different than the "norm", but any advice on that would be nice.

ugh.  I won't let winME anywhere near my home machine.  At work they decided to go with ME as the workstation OS of choice last year sometime, my input was "uhmm, no!"  They didn't listen of course.  Eventually some poor tech got saddled with the job of putting win98SE on all the ME machines!  The saddest thing about ME IMO is that FrontPage 2000 doesn't work with it.  A Microsoft product not working with a Microsoft OS!  Talk about the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing!

Nifty, I've never felt the need for external rudders with the X36F, but YMMV.  My system died and looks like only shop in town carrying new ones is closing before I can afford to buy a replacement.

Cheers

Vos, you can always order directly from Saitek.  I think they ship to Canada too.  *shrugs*  If not get a friend stateside to order it for you.  *shrugs again*

Got it installed, and just jumped right into offline mode!  hehe, yawed like mad and had to adjust damping on the rudder control, after that, AMAZING!  I dunno if I just didn't have the input controls set well for the Wingman, but the X36 was just so much smoother!  Plus it was soooo nice to have a hat that worked!

I DLed Ranger Bob's profile and am gonna see how he set things up.

Thx to everyone who's recommeded this stick/throttle on the board.  I think I'm going to be very pleased with it!

And if you have any questions or problems with that profile just send an Email.

Check the read me file.

Ranger Bob is still well and alive in Aces High, but I'll be away again from Wednesday through Tuesday.
