I love the ones I used to get with my prescriptions.  Half the time I read them I expected to either grow a second head or wake up dead after I took them.

My grandfather is one of those people that believes because the shifter is in between the seats (even though its still an automatic) that its OK to just pull the handbrake and leave the thing in drive and get out of the car.  He still gets confused when he cant turn the key all the way off when its still in drive.

ready for this one? i'll preface this with the fact that this guy shouldn't be allowed to operate a motor vehicle.

couple weeks ago, i'm just getting ready to lock my shop up and head home. guy comes in, and asks if i can help him. he pulled up to the gas pumps, and when he went to start his car, it won't start.
i grab my booster pack, and go out there with him. i lean into the car( a cadi. cts), and reach for the hood release. i also noted that the car was in drive. put it in park, turned the key, and it started.  :noid :rofl

you ever listen to the "disclaimers" on tv for the different meds they sell? hell, some of the possible side effects are far worse than the symptom they're selling the drug for. scary stuff......

yeah, but most of the things the lawyers make them list are about as common as hen's teeth.

There was actually a drug that killed ITSELF by advertising. I can't remember the name of it ,but it was a fat blocker - and like anything that keeps the body from absorbing a nutrient, it causes more stuff to be delivered downstream (ahem) to the bacteria in the colon. So, taking it could cause gassiness, bloating, greasy stools (if you don't absorb it, it has to go out the other end!)

But having to announce on TV that it could cause bowel leakage, loss of control - well, from that day forward NO one wanted to take it. The sales curves were going up, but when they advertised sales tanked - and they ended up pulling it from the market.  :lol

Couple years later, they cut the dose in half and renamed it "Alli" - since its over the counter, they don't have to disclose all that stuff, and since its half the dose there are fewer side effects. Course, it doesn't work as well...

2 funny "sue" stories....

1. back when pepsis reward system was getting on its feet, pepsi had a commercial advertising pepsi points, the commercial had a spokesman, and he said stuff like " for # amount of pepsi points you get this tv!" or "and for # amount of pepsi points you get this new sterio set!"this was all normal, but at the very end of the commercial, the announcer was suddenly like "and for one million pepsi points, you get this!.." and then it showed a fully loaded(bombs &rockets)harrier jet landing in a field. the harrier stunt im guessing was ment to add a little humor, or something to the commercial, because pepsi never thought anyone would drink enough pepsi to earn 1 million points. but guess what? someone did. the guy called up pepsi asking for his harrier, but of course pepsi didnt actually own a harrier to give away, and they surely couldnt give one away loaded with bombs&rockets. therefore the guy sued pepsi over "False advertising" i think, and won thousands of $$$. :lol

2. a guy actually sued red bull and won. his argument was that red bull "didnt give him wings", as red bull stated in there ads it would. and he won. (i believe due to false advertising aswell). thats why you dont really hear the "it gives you wings!" from redbull anymore, you hear the brain logo instead.

Yay!! Urban legends!!

1.
Quote
The court, presided over by Judge Kimba Wood, rejected Leonard's claims and denied recovery on three grounds.

It was found that the advertisement featuring the jet did not constitute an offer.
The court found that even if the advertisement had been an offer, no reasonable person could have believed that the company seriously intended to convey a jet worth roughly $23 million for under a million dollars.
The value of the alleged contract meant that it fell under the provisions of the statute of frauds, but the statute's requirement for writing between the parties was not fulfilled, so a contract had not been formed.

He didn't even collect the required points, seven million.

Quote
The plaintiff did not collect 7,000,000 Pepsi Points through the purchase of Pepsi products, but instead sent a certified check for $700,008.50 as permitted by the contest rules. Leonard had 15 existing points, paid $0.10 a point for the remaining 6,999,985 points, and a $10 shipping and handling fee
