you ever listen to the "disclaimers" on tv for the different meds they sell? hell, some of the possible side effects are far worse than the symptom they're selling the drug for. scary stuff......
yeah, but most of the things the lawyers make them list are about as common as hen's teeth.
There was actually a drug that killed ITSELF by advertising. I can't remember the name of it ,but it was a fat blocker - and like anything that keeps the body from absorbing a nutrient, it causes more stuff to be delivered downstream (ahem) to the bacteria in the colon. So, taking it could cause gassiness, bloating, greasy stools (if you don't absorb it, it has to go out the other end!)
But having to announce on TV that it could cause bowel leakage, loss of control - well, from that day forward NO one wanted to take it. The sales curves were going up, but when they advertised sales tanked - and they ended up pulling it from the market.

Couple years later, they cut the dose in half and renamed it "Alli" - since its over the counter, they don't have to disclose all that stuff, and since its half the dose there are fewer side effects. Course, it doesn't work as well...
