If not claimed by suicide or drinking, age takes all veterans.  :salute

I second that motion Tarstar. Soldiers died for what they believed in, don't dishonor it.

"Five Raider crew members, including two co-pilots, survive him, but Bill was the last living pilot."

The opportunity to participate with surviving raiders in their 69th anniversary reunion will be during
April 14-17, 2011 in Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska.

I'm sure your fellow Doolittle Raiders will toast to you as they always do to fallen fellow raiders at every reunion.

Kermit, could you post more information on this. I think I am going to make a maximum effort to attend, if I can. At this rate there may only be one or two more and then they are all gone.

Thanks in advance!

Warmest,
Boo

Another silver cup is carefully placed upside down in the case, never again to be taken out. Another pilot makes his last final approach, for a perfect landing. And another generation slips into history, soon to live only in the books and films, and the hearts and minds of those who remember with reverence.

Couldn't have been said better.

Gotta be one of the most tasteless comments I've ever read..

Don't quite get it, I was saying that not only did few men survive the war, many that did took their own lives.  This makes veterans even rarer than they ought to be; they are walking, talking textbooks- truly priceless gems of history.
