I agree. We have this VOX guy in our squad and he always asks "how do I start my engine?" even though he's been playing for years. I told him to use "Alt-F4" but he won't. God he's annoying. He needs to be "fixed."

Clear the prop.
Lift guard on starter switch and press

As engine starts, move mixture control to

Check for constant oil pressure. If no
oil pressure or low pressure after 30
seconds, SHUT DOWN engine.
Check all instruments for proper readings.
Check hydraulic system by lowering and
raising flaps; loading 800-850 pounds and
unloading at 1050-1100 pounds.
Check communication equipment for operation.

We have been implementing stage 2 of the sound change. That is implementing a new codec that improves voice quality. Included in the next version will also be a systyem checker that will tell us if the codec Vent uses is installed on all or most systems. If it is, we will be switching to the same codec as vent.

HiTech

That's awesome news!  I'm really glad there's gonna be something more to this Miles SS soon... I think the community overall has had a less-than satisfactory experieince with the Miles SS, either in its original implementation or its current state (some complain it gives their system a hick-up occasionaly, personaly I've never been satisfied with its vox quality).

vent uses GSM 6.10 I believe,

On our server there are 3 different levels of quality,  the default one is only as good as say teamspeak but if you put it on the highest one server side it sounds perfect.

In all the years of using it only Dadrabit didn't have the codec on his machine.  GSM 6.10 should, by default, be on all operating systems from 2000 upwards.  unless someone somehow removed them.

Both Teamspeak and Vent have the ability to change the sound quality.  Since Teamspeak 3, both are very competitive in sound quality.  However, I'd put TS3 above Vent in functionality for sure.

If I can plug a feature request here instead of the other forum, how about a "multiplexing" (or whatever the correct word is) feature that, when over 4 people are talking at once, AH doesn't queue them up, but just plays each person's vox message over each other.  That way when someone takes the town and 20 people are yelling "grats good job everyone" simultaneously we don't have to listen to it for the next two minutes

Pigs on the wing has been testing out Vent that past 2 weeks, some like it some dont...I love it. The clarity compared to AH is just night and day but I do understand the downsides of using an external voice app.

The reason for this thread is to ask the community and HTC if they ever thought about improving the vox? And what are your thoughts on Vent/teamspeak compared to AH vox?

The Few have been using Vent for the past 6 or so years now, it's the most important item any clan/squad/guild should have. I don't see how anyone could not like using it!

You guys are probably the last major squad to start using either.  We use Vent also.  Works fine, nobody has issue with it.

I'm pretty sure Army of Muppets don't use either.
