I would hold on to that one if I was you..... those with the Scrolling Abalone & mother of pearl inlay on the Fretboard should be the Custom Diamond series ones.....

they still offer the c-1 customs but have stopped with the fancy scroll engraving/inlay  ... now they just come with doubled up Wedge shaped  fret markers

and the price for the newer less detailed ones have dropped their price by roughly $300 to $400 dollars.....

depending on the year of yours, it retailed between $1,100 to $899.00 roughly..... some places more.....

That Jackson tye-dye is ridiculously cool.  

Thanks!  I walked in the store like 20 years ago to pay off the layaway on my Rhoads, and they had just got that in...I promptly put that ty-dye on layaway    The salesman also happens to be my old guitar teacher.  A couple years ago he found a tye-dye King V for sale, and looked into it, and the guy wanted six grand for it.  Needless to say I try not play mine out too much.

Close 2nd, the aviation series.  

That poor thing took a spill out a defective case (my bad for using that ancient case) and the tone pot got driven right through the face.  It repaired up nice, you cant see any damage in the pic I posted.  Coolest thing about it IMO are the stars and bars inlays with USAAF at the 12th fret.

Whether you play them, attempt to play them, or just like to look at them, what are your favorite guitars.  I'm a fan of Jackson Bloodline.  I have a JS21 (I think) Dinky.  Next on the list I want is a Rhoads V.

The other two guitars that I plan to own in the future that are not a Jackson is a Gibson Les Paul and an Explorer!

I have a no-name acoustic I had as a kid.  I have an Ovation Balladeer acoustic before the internal electronics were invented.  I have a Gibson Les Paul electric that really wales, but I cannot crank it up like it was designed to be played in my neighborhood, besides it would blow out my windows.

Would like to get a 12 string electric, but Rickenbackers are expensive collector items.  I'd settle for an import copy, maybe Ibanez makes one.

Will get a Strat and a Tele one of these days.

Fingerstyle jazz of old American Standards is my preferred musical style.

I owe my interest of getting back into guitar after 40 years away from it to Gary (Class of '68) Boca Bobcats.  This guy has played in bands since the mid-1960's and owns over 70 guitars, each one has its own unique sound.

Elderly is awesome.  We used to make a monthly (or so) pilgrimage there.  I had them go through a Peavey Heritage for me about fifteen years ago.

Finally got around to taking a real pic.  



The Warlock has a cool story behind it.  I found it in a pawn shop in San Bernardino (spray painted black and REALLY beat up).  I decided to make a project out of it.  I ended up gutting it, stripping the paint, staining it cherrywood, clearcoated it, cleaned up the pots, and rewired it with new pickups.  After setting it all up, surprisingly the darn thing played like a champ.

Which Model Rhoads is that?  I've been looking at buying one myself.  I love my Jackson JS22, but I hate the jumbo frets.  I played a Rhoads in guitar center Saturday and was amazed.

Does the game Rock Band count? My daughter had me play the base guitar. I hit most of the notes, so to speak. Other than that, this thread is foreign to me, though Strat in Loose Deuce would love this thread.

It's the RR3. I find that the frets are pretty big on it... but I love that.

Nice!  I've been looking at a JS32T and a JS32 with Floyd Rose at Guitar Center.  If I had the money, I'd go with the RR. 


The Jumbo Frets I'm torn on.  I have on;y been playing guitar for almost a year.  My JS22 was my first guitar, so I thought the Jumbo frets would be a good idea in helping me learn on.  Now they seem to get in the way.

I'm thinking I will go with the ESP before I go with the Rhoads.  Both are under $300.  Since I'm still a beginner, but not complete n00b, I don't want to spend an arm and a leg on a really great guitar.

It depends on how you like to play, I suppose. I find the Jumbo frets a great asset to my playing and would never go back, but that's just me.

The whole feel of the RR3 is just something special, though. The neck is just perfect for metal... I never understood why people banged on about necks so much until I played my Jackson.

It was a   moment, for sure.

It'd be a love or hate instrument to live with, I imagine.

You can't sit with it sitting on your right leg, you have to sit with it between your legs. I prefer that and sit with all my guitars like that anyway, though...

I let the RR3 sit on the chair rather than my legs and it works perfectly. The neck will sit right up, though, so you might not like playing like that. I always have, so I prefer it.

I can't recommend the RR3 enough... It's awesome.

Part of me wishes I spent the extra cash on the RR24 (neck-through, 24 frets)... but the RR3 is killer.
