EVE Online - question
« on: January 30, 2011, 05:07:15 PM »
For those with an active account:

Is it true the game now offers character skill re-mapping?

I have like 10 mill ill-spent SP's on my inactive character and man... if I could re-spec them I'd so get back into the game.

I do not play it, but my Youngest daughter does, and while she was up during Christmas she mentioned something of the like and wanted me to do some maint on her PC she brought up to me ......

she was all siked about getting to re spend or redo something she had like 17 or 27 million of...... regarding Character skills..

was funny watching like 8 to 10 others trying to shoot her down/destroy her spacecraft and she ended up cleaning the floor with all of them.... then went to do some minor repairs at some docking station.....

I'm too dumb for that game. Amazing how massive it is...and the in-game economy is equally amazing though.

I have played Eve Online for over a year. Yes, CCP released an update about a month and a half ago. They removed all learning skills from all the characters' brains. The skill points spent in learning is now reimbursed to you. You can then reassign those points to any other skills that you wish to apply. They have also just recently updated the character creator so that all characters are now 3D and have moving avatars. This is the prelude to the upcoming expansion that allows players to walk in station.

Correct. Only the skill points that have been reimbursed to you from the removal of Learning Skills. :aok

If you have those trained to the max, you should have about 4.5 million skill points to reassign to any other skill you would like.

Idk how anyone has fun playing this game.  I have tried it two times and it has to be one of the most boring games ive ever played.

I've enjoyed EVE to an extent when I played it, however, sitting out in an asteroid belt mining rocks to afford things kinda kills it for me. Don't get me wrong EVE is an amazing game but you really have to be into it to get the most enjoyment. I tended to solo a lot so that makes it somewhat boring but if you have a friend to run missions with then it becomes a bit better.

I'm with Beef. It was a lot of fun, but hard to get ahead if you play solo. Found it hard to get help doing something when needed too.

I enjoy the destroyer hulls a lot more than any other ship in the game... I can fly cruisers and battleships and almost enough skills for a dreadnaught but... I just dont get any thrill flying big ships.

Plus DD hulls are super cheap and I can easily afford to waste a ton of those  :devil

problem is its hard to be accepted into a 0.0 alliance as a DD escort. 'get a battleship dont waste your slot in the fleet' mentality. EVE has become too much of a firepower vs tanking ability game than its original 'each ship has a vital role' mentality. When it first launched a small group of destroyers could lay waste to a battleship group if they big ships didn't have frigate or DD escorts. Today the BB groups have been given too much tanking ability and become impervious to small ships.. its just stupid.

Sounds like you know what you're doing. Maybe I can hook up with you in game.

I used to fly an interceptor for Goonswarm, are they still around?

Never heard of them. I really don't have much playing time or knowledge about the game to know anyone
