I'm glad you liked it. I found it painfully boring. Most times you had to really screw around with your view and trying to track targets 15k-19k out while your ship was turning meant you never hit them, and as soon as you had them ranged they turned around or you did.
Aces High has none of the split-view rangefinders that have been in military services since BEFORE WORLD WAR 1 and as such you cannot tell the range of a target from ship guns.
The real question in naval warfare was "we know they're this far out, now how fast are they going, what angle, and what direction in relationship to us?"
Note that the HMS Hood was sunk in one of the first salvos fired. In AH if you tried to replicate that you'd spend 15 minutes pouring shells into the ocean watching the splashes and adjusting.
To me that's not so much fun (and yes, I did participate, see the logs for a nice buffer-full of hits on several targets).
