Toonami?
« on: February 07, 2011, 09:07:44 PM »
Used to show on Cartoonnetwork before 2007 when they canceled it. Had all the Japanese anime's including my favorite show and series Zoids. Thinking of it now all the newer shows suck, which is ruining the newest generation. Out of Curiosity since i have to remind myself you are all adults, does anyone remember it?

I'm just thinking, why not start the new generation with good cartoons instead of BS shows like adventure time that have no plot and nothing to accomplish and base their popularity off of funny looking characters. Time's made my memory bad, i can't remember much about the good times when it wasn't hard to find something good on tv.

Adventure time is actually very deep there are some really funny things in it that the average "child" cannot see.

Adventure Time is actually more geared to 17-23 year olds in my opinion. The reason Toonami was taken down, is because the current head of CN hated it and took it out because of his own feelings towards it, alienating a huge amount of their fans. I get furious when ever I see live action shows on CARTOON NETWORK (Adult Swim is perfectly fine with that, since it IS different. But they REALLY need to bring back better shows and more Anime)

Not gonna lie... i loved Zoids. All of the Cartoon channels have become either bad or geared to too young a child for adults to even find humor in them anymore. :cry

Anyone here remember the old Nickalodeon with Doug, Angry Beavers, Rocko's Modern Life, and RUGRATS? :aok

Best show to EVER be on Toonami was Bobobo-Bo-Bo-Bobo. EVER!!! Zoids was just too much aimed at kids for me to like it. Then there was the eleventymillion Yu-gi-oh spinoffs that had the retarded card battle things. In fact anything that had card battles should of been dropped after episode one. Adult Swim on saturdays I think yeard ago used to air Neon Genesis Evangelion. It was good but had its moments. The movies and theatrical releases were many times better and animated.

I dont watch it like I used to since I just dont have time but you can call me old fashioned, I absolutely love the 80's style of animation. I guess you can say my favorite works are done by Rumiko Takahashi

Now on the Nick stuff.... Angry beavers was awesome, for some reason the S.P.A.W.N. episode is stuck in my head. Rocko was funny and along with Ren and Stimpy. There is a ton more that its too early in the day for me to remember right now. Wonder if they are released on as a box set yet?

For us that were around back then, how about Count Duckula, Dangermouse, You cant do that on television, out of control? That was some way funny stuff back then

I remember when it first aired, not when it ended  :old: I never cared much for the ones with overly-exagerated facial expressions used as comic relief. Some of those anime had some perverse sexual content in them, that made me uncomfortable as well.

In 1999, I would have been in the 4th grade and the show Robotech/SDF-1 Macross (the original, never got into the new generation mess) was my life. What more could a young kid want then battling space mecha that resembled a cross between an f-14 and a f/a-18?

After that, I followed the series MS Gundum Wing pretty well, but not with the same hype as Robotech.

Finally ended my stay at toonami with Dragon Ball Z. Great action show, but it got silly at times.

I never could stand the anime shows.  I watched dragon ball Z every once in a while when I was a kid, but I always stayed up late to watch the older cartoons.
