nope. in the 70's when the pollution crap really started to take hold, they didn't know how to make power, and run clean at the same time. they messed with ignition timing, valve timing, compression ratios, a ton of power robbing pollution control stuff..........

i will now...........ford 5 liter 440 hp. ford 5.4 liter over 700 hp. ford 4.2(i think) liter v-6 305 hp. gm 6 liter(they've almost always need to go bigger to match fords hp ratings) i think in the 450 hp range. supposedly the new 6.2 liter supercharged will be around 600 to 650 hp.

 i love these things.

I suck when it comes to mechanical talk, but I like the 5.4L.  It's what's in my F-150, and I've never had any problems (regular driving, towing, mud, anything).  Don't know what my experience amounts to, but I said it anyway   :D

they also trimmed a lot of "fat" years ago, when they saw this current stuff coming down the road.

They took Boeing's home grown, next-in-line CEO and gave him a job offer that Boeing wouldn't. We sure do miss Mulally.

I've met the guy in person. He was genuine. After the Harry and Phil kabosh in 2003-2005, Mulally was passed over twice for CEO. Boeing shafted him. Glad to see him move on and become a successful CEO, as an "In your face" to Boeing.

that's part of why i don't much care for bigger companies. they always seem to shaft their good people sooner or later.
