i do my best to avoid giving or taking the shot...if the other person starts firing and it's an obvious nose to nose ho...i'll do everything i can to ram the tard
careful saying that...

awhile ago i posted a thread stating i use to fly jugs so i could ram all the HOing spit 16 dweebs in the DA

and proceded to get mauled by a 3 page long outcry of how there is "no raming in AH! the system doesnt register it!"

I die fairly often to HO shots... I don't pick up on it soon enough. At any rate, I never take the opportunity when it arises, as it's akin to Russian Roulette more than dogfighting, and if you get a kill that way, what have you accomplished?

I hardly ever take anything more than a ping on a HO shot.

It takes two to HO... Just assume that everyone is going to HO you, avoid the HO and make the shot difficult for them, then start your next move.

To be honest, I find that the real dorks who go for broke on the HO end up bleeding speed and flopping about like fish out of water trying to get their guns on me while I'm setting up my turn to come back around on them.

Then it's all downhill for them...... If only I could shoot straight, everything would be dandy. Hahaha.

Possibly the most overused false statement in AH. Any "good stick" with good timing can "rudder kick" the HO shot, Most choose not to but my no means all! :(

I always try an avoid a HO especially when I'm in a Zeke and the other plane has 4 cannons (lol). Anyway, I never blame my opponent for a HO. As far as I'm concerned it's my job to get out of the way.

That's the key though, isn't it?

I didn't mean to throw around a cliche, but it's true... If you approach a front-quarter to front-quarter merge with the idea of avoiding a HO guns solution in mind, 9 times out of 10, you'll get away without a ping.

The people with the skill to really put in that hard-hitting shot on a HO pass (in my experience, at least) tend not to take them and enjoy the challenge of a good fight.

I don't think 'two to tango' is false... it's definitely overused though.

If you're doing what I do to avoid a HO, it'll take more than kicking the rudder to land hits.

That's not to say that I'm good or anything... I'm rubbish.. but I don't seem to really have much trouble with HOs.

I'm right with you on that one.

I get disappointed that other people don't like to play the way that I enjoy... but it's a game and people like different things, don't they?

I'd sooner lose a tense fight than win a crappy merge through spraying a hail of bullets, but that's me and some people just like to win. Whatever.

Just curious.

I've been in some fights with some very good pilots who had bigger guns than I and a chance to HO and yet refused. At that point I know I'm in trouble or in for a tough fight. I rarely go for the HO. Then and only then it's a weak armored plane like a tbm. Even that can get you a pilot wound. I don't even do it on buffs. You get some great shot and you're toast.

i try not to. i've mistaken the heading, and accidentally done it......in which case i do apologize to them. just the other night, i had a couple of great fights(which i lost) that i could've taken the ho shots......had at least 3 presented to me. i pushed away from that shot, and continued on. the guys i was fighting did the same.

Most of the time I will not HO and do my best to avoid it. One of two exceptions is if my opponent HO me first then I have no issue with trying to gun them down if they try to HO again in the same fight. The other exception is when the odds are greater than 3v1 against me, and that's just because in that situation it seems that no matter where I turn I have some one trying to fly down my throat; guns blazing, trying to get the kill before any of their 3 buddies can.
The real problem is anyone should feel like they can come to this forum and make a wish without being treated in a derogatory manner.  The only discussion should be centered around whether it would work, or how it would work and so on always in a respectful manner.

I never brag when I kill ANYONE.  The kill alone, in the mind of the just killed cartoon, is all the message I need to send.

You know something, Its a guns game, a competitive guns game.  As an avid firearms collector and sports shooter I enjoy shooting things.  The people that put up this BS facade that one should NEVER fire on the HO is just that.  BS
The idea is to NOT let the other guy get a shot on you....ANY shot.

They got guns on the planes in this silly cartoon game and if you give me a straight shot from my gun to your brain then I'm gonna take it.

I also know when I'm dealing with an amateur who thinks he is a pro by the way they fly towards me.  Smart players rarely give anyone a head on shot so its never a problem with them.  Its the dummies that think I shouldn't fire so being free as a butterfly they dance in front of me at 100 yards out and when I blast em they are like "why ho"....... Im like shut up and die, re-up and learn to survive instead of whining like the kotex poster child your trainers taught you to be.

Ok, there I feel BETTER  :x

I don't boast about it but I do it only after I've been hoed trying for honest good merge.  So if you get hoed by me blame your countrymen for doing it to me first.  I know with this attitude its not going to change the game but I'm not here to change the game.  I think the HO is here for good and It'll never go away.  Of course if your in a fight outnumbered I expect it.  It's hard not to take a shot when you have guys ganging up on ya.  I never get upset with the one hoing when he is outnumbered or getting ganged really bad.  I see its your fault for putting yourself in that situation.

I try not to head on but it irritates me when I see someone doing a lead turn so early that I can see their tail number as they go by.

If I can read a tail number, I am taking the shot.
