Also, climbing to 25K and above will reduce efficiency in a strict sense. You are relatively safe up there, but it takes a lot of time to get there, and you still can't shut down a field on your own in one pass. Of course a few guys can wing up, but that again creates a nice darbar.

Have you ever been on a Thunderegg mission???/

He will have people climbing out from 5 sectors out to get up there, and there are a lot of people in those missions.

Think of the HQ runs........goodbye dar :ahand

I have been on a lot of his missions. Just on the other side  :t
Missions like that are not a game changer. All those people could be much more "effective" in war terms by using a mix of 110's, n1Ks, goons with a few Lancs in the mix. The only reason they (and others) do that kind of missions is fun. And that's why they frequently get ...uhm... critizism by players on their own side "such a waste of resources" ;)

And when I think of the HQ runs, I gotta smile. 10-30 players (buffs & escorts) flying for 2 hours. When lucky, they make it past the 163's and kill HQ. 15 minutes later dar is back up due to resupply runs.

I hope they fix the gear door on the nose...

It's floating there, disconnected:

It should be very closely attached and aligned along the curve of the nose as seen here:

I'm still kidna surprised they chose to model  with that 20mm rear gun...  :uhoh

But good lookin' it is!  :rock

I figured they wouldn't as I didn't expect them to model the B-29B and would give us the A model instead.

The Japanese knew how to do it.  :D

They may have known how to do it but knowing and being effective at it are two different things.  More were lost to AAA and mechanical failures than from Japanese interceptors.  The Japanese also struggled to intercept the B-29s when they were flying at high altitudes and enjoyed a little bit more success when the B-29s dropped to low and medium altitudes.

and the war could and would have been won without the use of it. It just ended it quicker.

I'm sure the families of the projected million+ Allied servicemen that were expected to lose their lives during the invasion of Japan would have been comforted by your words.

But did it have as much impact as the He-111, or the Yak-3, or the LaGG3, or the KI-43, or the Pe-2, or the Tu-2. I could go on.

Yes, it ended the war in the Pacific.  How much more of an impact could you want?

I'd say there were a large number of Japanese who think it did more than drop the atomic bombs and who were significantly impacted by it.

It saw combat operations starting in June of 1944.  It merits inclusion in the game eventually, and the vote decided that "eventually" had arrived.  While I didn't vote for it, I do see merits in having it added.

And the exact same missions could have and would have been flown by other aircraft. Namely the 17. To equal effect.
