Occaisional Aces High has stopped working crashes
« on: February 21, 2011, 01:42:36 PM »
I recently started playing AH2 again after a few months break.  I have been having occaisional crashes to the desk top.

This is a new experience for me, everything used to be very stable for me.  I'm not sure what has changed.

Here's a link to my current DXDIAG

http://www.mediafire.com/?ckt5ut4pnf13b1b

Thank you in advance for any help.   :salute

This could simply be the same Windows 7 64 bit crash problem we see in a lot of other computers.

Skuzzy, if ya need the whole thing, I can email it to you

his page used file seems  a bit high to me,it's 1841 mb used....... shouldn't it be around 700 to 1100 mb used??? for a middle of the road system using win7 64bit

I noticed he has alot of Pinnacle stuff loaded for video processing/filtering/codecs and his Video driver is roughly 2 +/- years old

just a quick glance of stuff I noticed, also looks like he is using power management/throttling with that last part I edited /added.... not positively sure with that though...... that might be for his video card itself and Nvidia control Panel

TC, thanks for resposting that for me.  I'll not use mediafire in the future for that kind of stuff.

I wasn't aware that there was a problem with Win7 64 bit.  But then again, I only recently started playing again.  Is there a fix?  Or is it something that is still mysterious?

Thanks

PFD,
what are yor video settings you use in game?

what is your graphics advanced settings on?

Do you use hi res Skins pkg?   Do you use any Custom sound Packs?  Do you use any 3rd party vox program?

have you right clicked the AH icon and made sure it is checked with the blue/yellow shield "run as administrator"

edit: when you came back, did you just do the updates to get current, or did you uninstall and install a complete fresh install of Aces High?

have you changed your videocard out for a new one anytime since you last played?

Had a crash to desktop today, but right before it happened the game played the sound for the engine shutting down.  Since I was gliding with my engine off, I found it strange.  Thought I would report it here in case it helps locate the issue.

Did you just start using Win64? If so, welcome to the 'AH has crashed' club.

Been runnig this machine for more then a year, I don't remember having these crashes before.

Just had a second one today.  This time the game froze, instead of dropping to desktop.  It was like a screen shot.  I was landing and was dropping flaps when everything just stopped.  If it matters, I had just installed the new patch.

i get crashes when I don't clean out my films folder regularly. Any chance this could be the problem?

Really?  That's an odd one.  But I'll try anything at this point.
