how comfortable are they for gents with slightly larger ear lobes?

My current set get a little annoying after a couple of hours of flying.   :(

Well... I have a pretty big head, equipped with large ears, and I find these pretty comfy.  <shrug>   YMMV

i looked at the specs and its 5.1 not 7.1 surround sound.  makes a small difference while in gv's.

You're right: more is better.  7.1 would be better than 5.1.  These are 5.1.

But I am very happy with the improvement over my old two-channel stereo headset.  I drove a Tiger in the MA last night, my first vehicle sortie since getting the HPA2s.  I found the surround sound effect (planes flying over and strafing me, friendly Wirbles driving around me and firing, etc.) to be pretty convincing.  Combined with the TrackIR, it makes me really feel like I'm *there*.

i was just making an observation that the headset is 5.1 instead of 7.1.  the headsets themselves are a good set.  but some people may get surprised when they see it as 5.1.  me myself i have a 7.1 set, really good, but since i am deaf as heck, i cant tell direction anyway, lol.
