I downloaded a new nightsite (how well it'll work, don't know) but I like the idea of it being night again. Even if its just done on TTuesday, would be cool.

most people will change the gama setting to make it daylight.  why not just lower your gamma setting to make it night anytime you want.  same thing no time wasted on coading.

Night time is actually in the code. In the autumn there was an event, we were flying 109Fs, takin off at dawn, totally dark, then that sunrise... best arena setup i have ever seen. Was beautiful.
I wish for that sunrise, those rich colours in the MA.

I can change your mind really fast!

Ask the scenario gurus to do a night time Japan raid from Iwo where the 29s come in at 8k at night (thats the way it was done... too bad we cant limit ammo to the lower turrets only) and set the icons for 3k. No puffy ack (Japanese AAA was fused for 30k) and I dont know where the searchlights would come from... but I bet you dont survive.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

Many times (depending on the setup) we have short period of night in the Axis Vs Allies (AvA) arena.  You also get new plane matchups and maps every week.  Short friendly icons and no enemy icons.  Not many people like the icon settings, but there's a growing number of regulars - you can find the most people there between 7-11pm US Central Time.

also, during nighttime use the 3k spotting radius instead of the normal 6k.

i have been..

whats the point of night time if you can still see the enemy plane from 6k away?

shortening it to 3k would be the best way replicate bad visibility at night, IMO.

i have bad news there genius...with the ability to adjust the gamma setting that turns night into day and vice versa...what is the point of night time?

in the main arenas if you want night time...put on a blindfold and save the other people the trouble of adjusting their gamma setting.

We already have a sunset and a sunrise period.  I don't see the harm in making it so it is actually night time for a short while.. 15 to 20 minutes maybe before the sun starts coming back up again...

wow...your description of B-29 night bombings isn't very accurate.

B-29s would come in at staggard altitudes, like a stair step.  The first group would come in low over the target (usually 5,000ft - sometimes lower) and the top group would be between 12,000 - 15,000ft.  The ammo for the defensive guns were not limited to lower guns only, all guns were provided ammunition and even with the B-29s that had their armor removed to lighten their bomber, most B-29s retained their full set of defensive guns.

No puffy acks?  I don't know where you got that Japanese AAA was only fused for 30,000ft but that's not correct at all.  The major type of AAA the B-29s faced when on their low level bombing missions were from 40mm AAA guns.

Way back when there was a full night cycle in the MA.  It's actually in the arena settings, I can't say what the official reason for changing to the current system however from my experience and memory of it once the novelty wore off it was just sort of annoying I would usually log for 20-30 minutes till the sun came up again.

One of those things that tend to sound better as a concept than a reality.
