I don't run my truck too low. At 3.75 gallon I usually hit around 70.00 - 75.00. I have a 34 gallon tank.

You guys a lucky. My engine is tuned for 93 octane, and now since I moved to AZ it's nowhere to be found  :furious
And 91 is more expensive than the 93 I used to get  :furious

Every time somebody farts in the mideast "speculators" freak out!!

I'm not very informed at all on the subject, but what would happen to the oil prices if oil was taken off the "market"??

It would seem that the minoritys "panic" is dictating what the "majority" pays for the stuff.

they would drop significantly.

My Jeep has a Mercedes built V6 diesel - a full tank lasts about 805km (503 miles) and costs 105 euros to fill (149 bucks). Note that the diesel will most likely be a lot heavyer than your original gas engine, you might need to upgrade your suspension or risk handling trouble.

That would never happen, gas and oil futures are how most large business hedge their fuel costs (from airlines to train companies). If you 'pulled' it off the market, you would be essentially fixing the price and most of the largest economic players in the US (Exxon, Cheveron, etc..) would be yelling "socialism" and unlike you or I, they have billions in cash to back up their yell.

(Ironically, the government is already engaged in a  form of price fixing via the oil and gas subsidies that they provided to them in the past and you don't hear them complaining about that :headscratch:).

Not to mention the possibility of the oil traders dropping the U.S. dollar for a different exchange currency.  That would be messy to say the least.

Rubles.

It would probably be the Chinese yuan or the Euro.  Rubles are far too unstable to justify a switch.

EDIT: Then again, both the Yuan and the Euro are both tied to the dollar.  I would say the Yuan has a better chance seeming that China manipulates the value of the Yuan and wouldn't be affected as much as the Euro would be.

I just like the word Ruble.

Its a nice woody word, not tinny.

It would be the Eruo, the Chinese fix the price of their currency by purchasing US and Euro Gov bonds with the money from surplus of trade to prevent it from floating on the open market.
