It's still the art department carrying the studio.

you can't change an old "point and click game"
maybe only via graphics, after 5mins you realize its the same old expirience ;)
Graphics is what sells, but thats not really news.
The statement below is true.

how about 200sqkm maps that actualy accomadate the real life infantry tactics? How about a game that when you get hit just once, your are in big trouble if not dead?

That's why if I play any fps it's ArmA2.

Doom or DukeNukem 3D was a better game experience than CoD style fps, imo.
WW2OL is similar to this gameplay wise, after awhile you dont really realise the inferior graphics due to the game play

I think there's some sweet spot somewhere between torturous realism like Project Reality and arcade gratuitousness/shallowness like BC2.

Graphics are amazing, but looks aren't everything. I've bought my share of DICE and EA products that looked good in the trailers, but when the game was released it was horrible. I wonder if BF3 will go over like Medal of Honor did.

Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad is leaving both CoD and BF in the dust!  ;)

I have played both genres of game.  I still prefer the CoD series but the graphics look decent in this new release.  Far from believing that CoD is dead, they will just come back and release something equally tantalizing.
I regret doing business with TD Computer Systems.

I really don't know, I mean, COD MW3 looks like it'll be the most realistic FPS game out there on the market.

Karnak BF3 is supposed to be in line with other BFs : multiplayer first.
Yup, which is the modern game developer's "cheap way out excuse".

The fact is, graphics like that take a lot of artist work to make and are thus expensive and time consuming, yet game players demand ever increasing graphic quality.  Puts the devs in a catch-22, which they escape by just making the games "multiplayer is our focus".

It means the days of good mainstream single player games are largely behind us.

Looks like a carbon copy of Call of Duty... with better graphics... so, it looks like a carbon copy of the next Call of Duty. :yawn

They could at least pick a different environment... what's the last major title that wasn't set in the Middle East...? OK, Homefront and Black Ops, then...?

It would be at least a change of scenery if someone were to explore a large scale European conflict, perhaps changing the dynamics a little, too, fighting tanks and helos instead of just goat herders with AK47's...

The Yugoslav wars could be kind of interesting if not for all of the genocide and political sensitivity...

Battlefield is fighting tanks, helos, aircraft, APCs, Humvess, jeeps, dune buggies, plus ground combat.

Karnak correct me if I'm wrong but the BF series were always about multiplayer.  COD was one that had a more solid share of both.

Either way, it's a shame they don't hire some better programmers.  Even with Z movie script, BC2 had some beautiful sections in single player.  But the AI was as bad as anything released in the last 10+ years.

I find games that are scripted and you play against A.I. extremely boring. There's just no point to play when you know you're just gaming against a computer script.

I was playing BC2 shooting down wirleybirds and killing everything with my mg3. Don't compare CoD and BC2.
