theres a bug that when caps drop below the amount of players in the arena, the "number" of people in the arena goes to the max the cap allows until the "actual number of people in the arena" finally stabilizes. basically there may be 251/100 but it says 100/100.

Its a feature not a bug.

They probably implemented this so people wouldn't see the 102/100 and then proceed to hammer their login server by quitting and coming back on to the game every 5 seconds to see if the number has changed.

Doesn't change anything. If I want into the arena I will log in and out over and over till I get in. I know a ton of other people do the same. To remedy this, they can remove the cap or add a queue in, otherwise I'll keep spamming to get in.

I found that if I drop my ISP Connection, and it's DHCP assigns a new IP addy to my PC, it shows a different number in the arena. It went from Full to like 150/400.
That has been my workaround. My company does a lot of load balancing-especially with our Citrix servers-that sometimes messes with our users. ipconfig /release and then ipconfig /renew will also accomplish that unless folks use a "static" IP address or router/modem.

Try it.   :O   :D  If it doesn't work.....shoot me down.   :airplane:

If it doesn't change anything, why are you even whining about it? You obviously love the attention... Just keep doing what you did before...spam till you get in. People who value their time may just say screw it and go in to the other arena. We have been down this road so many times before with arena caps...I know people say you are some shade or whatever, but you MUST be a noob to rehash this same old crap.

"We have changed the % of players needed from 70% to 80% to raise the cap on the opposite arena."

Would that mean you need 200*0.8 = 160 players in ... whatever the 200 cap arena is, for the other arena to raise its cap?

If your math is correct, moot, then this would actually seem to be exacerbating the problem, not helping it, as it would cause the locked arena to stay locked longer, and the unlocked arena to have to grow in population even further (beyond that of the locked arena) before the locked arena unlocks.

example

orange 100/100 locked
blue 75/150 open

blue would have to populate to at least 120 (80%) before orange would unlock, instead of 105 (70%) as before. How is this helping?

I wish it meant the unlocked arena's population would have to be 80% of the locked arena's before the locked arena would unlock, as in:

orange 100/100 locked
blue 79/150 open

then when this happens:

blue 80/150 (blue now has 80% of orange)

this will follow:

orange 100/150 open

at this point orange will stay open until it hits 150, then the lock and the same process starts over.

But I'm pretty sure that's not how it works, unfortunately.

Edit: That all being said, 100 is a rediculously low number for a cap on a LW arena, especially if that arena has a large map. The minimum number of players for a good variety of fights on all fronts is probably closer to 200, maybe 150 on a small map. No LW arena should ever be capped at less than 150, regardless of what the other arena is doing.

Yeah because him saying stuff like "Hurrrrrrrr let's make a massively multiplayer video game, but let's do our own take on it........only 100 players per server. HURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" is very constructive. He deserves to get flamed. For one he sounds like a complete retard (good one dude..you've been to 4chan..you are hip and with it on the internetz) 2. He obviously misrepresents the issue considering that the servers are NOT capped at 100...When one is capped the other is always open. He can continue to hammer the login server like he used to. Nothing has changed. Making retarded comments like his isn't exactly going to light a fire under HTC to make changes either.

Whoa whoa whoa.  Everybody just hold yer horses.

So correct if I'm wrong, but the 100/100 thing is basically just saying that the arena is "Full" correct?  As in, there are more than 100 people in there, but that is what it lists as?

If that is the case, I generally agree with the concept but I disagree with the methodology implemented.  When it says "100/100" it's confusing because you do not know whether there are actually 100/100 and you can be the next one in, or if it's actually 150/100 and you mgiht as well go to the other arena.

In my opinion, it should simply say "Full", but here's the kicker with that.  IF the arena is only 5 players over its max, it should list that number of players, so the players wanting in when it is close can get in with a few exit outs.  To illustrate my example:

Corresponding arena listings with a 200 player cap:
.
.
.
198/200
199/200
200/200
201/200
202/200
203/200
204/200
205/200
FULL

.
.
etc.

Right, I was just talking about 100 players on a team vs. 100 other players, I could have worded it better. It makes the fights bigger and lets more things happen at the same time. More bomber raids with air cover, more furballs in general, more ground battles, more cv battles. With 30 players per team there really isn't much you can do. You can do some stuff with your squad (provided you can all get in the same arena) but the bigger raids wouldn't work. You'll either have everyone on your team at one base or you'll be thinned out across the map.

Hmm.  Have you not just contradicted yourself here (bold)?

Have you ever been in 100 v 100 battles.   I have prior to caps.  They really are not fun.  You don't get more bomber raids with air cover, more furballs in general, more ground battles, more cv battles. You just get bigger and bigger hordes, fighting at 3-4 bases.  When we had an arena with 600-700 people in it, it was not fun.  Many people tend to forget those days and just remember the days before them when numbers were lower and one arena worked.
