Please explain..
« on: May 08, 2011, 05:21:56 PM »
I've had an issue where once every few days my motherboard will not come out of sleep. Whenever that happens it corrupts AH so that it will not load. I figured out through trial and error a while back that if i delete the sysinfo.cfg file from the settings folder, it will work just fine again. I was just wondering why this particular file would get corrupted when it is not even in use when I put my computer to sleep? Does it stay in memory somehow even when AH is not running? I have always wondered what is going on with this. Now that I figured it out, it is not such a big deal, but I am curious.

Windows caches all files and writes them out when it needs to, unless you have write-caching disabled in Windows.  If you are running Vista or Windows 7, it is not a good idea to allow you computer to sleep as there are known problems with Vista/Windows 7 sleep functionality.

hasn't there been "known issues" with power management functionality in general since ms stuck it in windows? i turn all power management off except for hard disk and video...my work laptop has "suspend" mode enabled just because i haul it around to meetings.

Not sure how bad XP, and earlier were, but with Vista the problems were taken to a new high.  Windows 7 addressed the most serious problems but left a lot of lingering issue behind.

If you insist on running a computer and using power management in Windows, you really need to disable both read and write caching to help reduce problems associated with those functions.

It really is not a good idea to run, a Windows based computer, with any type of power management enabled.

I never leave my computer running, even though I have power management enabled it's only for if I walk away for an extende period of time and forget to turn it off.  Shutting down the computer (any computer) should be done from time to time just to clear out the RAM of an garbage it's collected and to allow the processor and the power supply to cool.

For the forth time in a week while flying a 24J bomber I've been booted out of the game just before or when dropping bombs on the CV then when I try to get back into the game there's a sudden jump in how many people are in the same room and find I can't get back in. Why is this happening, am I breaking some rules or someone's private rules in that they don't want me bombing the CV's like that? At first I thought it was some sort of freak thing until I set up a report using my computer. Anyway, it seems something is wrong there.

Gensmacky, you need to start a new thread for your problem. At the same time please try and remember if you get any error messages and what they were. Include them in your post.
