That's it. That's my wish. More skins. More approvals. More swaps. Most preferrably, more slots. Yes, I definitely understand why there is a 15 skin limit. That limit was originally put into place 10 years ago. Computers and video cards have advanced a bit since then. I want Moaaaaaaaar

True. On the flip side... often in games textures are swapped in and out of memory as needed, and not just left in there unless they are common "constant usage" textures. So the real issue I'd think is not the # of aircraft in game, but the # of aircraft within your visual area. Has that increased?


Either way, doesn't matter. It's a wishlist, and I wish it, feasibility be darned ;-)

i believe the skin texture size has doubled, at least on the remodeled aircraft...if they remain memory resident once rendered, that's twice the load it used to be.

The cockpit texture size was recently quadrupled.  The exterior texture size is still the same.

i thought the skins went from 1024 max texture size to 2048 max texture size a couple of updates prior to this last one

There are 4x as many pixels in 2048x2048 than you have in 1024x1024.

Only the B-29 currently has 2048 res external art. I'd guess you will only see it on very large aircraft in the foreseeable future, i.e. four engined bombers when they are remodelled or introduced.

Maybe all planes don't need 15 skins, and some planes need even more.   For example, the Wildcat has been around for a long time and doesn't even have half it's skin limit.   And are there even 15 different skins for the F4U-1C?   But on the other hand a very popular plane like the P-51 with a lot of very colorful and different skins possible, perhaps deserves more slots?

I agree, use the space that isn't being occupied by other planes to allow more space for the more popular ones.  At the very least rotate out the skins every time the map resets.
