Perk lottery?
« on: May 20, 2011, 12:53:49 PM »
It might be cool/funny/different to have an ingame perk loto. 18+ and less...
Those wiling to participate (only once per a certain time) would spend 100 perks in a perk pool and be elligible to win, lets say 2000 perks max, to allocate evenly to all 3 perk types (Fighter, Bomber, Vehicles)
Willingness to participate could be announced via AH console with a dot command and a confirmation.

Could be a good way to spend some surplus perks some people have.
Besides, Hitech could participate all the time being he has infinite amounts of it  :devil

This could also force new players to play more often to get the perks necessary to participate...

Nah, no one would be lending anything to anyone and would remain friendly and confidential. The only kind of abuse I can think of is those with shade accounts... but then, the perks they spend are theirs so I don't see why a second account giving double monthly money to HTC would cause a problem. Given the fact that possibly a whole lot of people could participate (maybe a hundred per event), anyone winning it would recieve 10,000 perks! This really is too much if it must happen for example every week. So a limit must be assessed no matter how many give in. A balance between the minimum entry perk price and the max win value is very important - Too low a price will have almost everyone enter at the cost of less chance of winning and too high a price will induce less people to try it being they don't have enough perks or is too risky to try. A lot of perks will be lost in the process though so either the perks left after a win are redistributed to the participating mass, or it is lost at the cost of less people participating future lotteries.

Either way, I'm not sure if the amount of time to spend programing this would be profitable enough compared to more important gameplay oriented issues. If the system is well implemented, I don't see a whole lot of tweaks required for it to work in the long term.

EDIT: maybe add a limit to the maximum participants, first arrived first served and make it happen every week or have anyone join and have the lottery every month or so.

problem with betting on duels is someone could easily just start selling perks. "gimme $x , and ill let you kill me in the DA for x perks" ..

and if I'm not mistaken, htc is quite against people selling perks, thats why there is no method to transfer them.
