Option to click mouse to fire when in gunner mode
« on: May 24, 2011, 11:31:09 AM »
The new GV system is annoying in one aspect. I still have to move my hand to hit the F, B, or N keys when I want to fire! The mouse doesn't fire when I click.

I've done a lot of gaming. This movement system is somewhat common in many other games that incorporate some GV motion with a gun's firing capability. The only difference is most of the others rely on the right and left mouse buttons to fire and alt fire. This allows you to fire while keeping your hand on the movement keys.

I don't think I'd want it all the time (definitely not when in a plane), but when I'm in a GV it would be most helpful to "click" to fire!

I fall into the habbit of "aim... adjust... CLICK! CLICK! Ah, crap, where's that F key?" BOOM, I'm dead, or have missed the target.

Mouse click when in gunner view doesn't fire anything for me. I have to hit F, B, or N while moving mouse around.

The mouse defaulted to fire with left button when I checked.

Krusty, have you checked the "map controllers" - mouse (In mode 2 for GV's)?

I don't want to map it. I don't want to use a mode. I GV in mode 1 same as I fly. I actually have multiple flight modes.

I'd just like an option (make it a checkbox) that whenever I'm in a gunner position with that kind of mouse movement, the click is automatically treated as a "fire" command.

uh krusty...mode settings are mappings, either default or custom. what does your left mouse button do now, in any mode?

I use it for clipboards, menus, and the normal stuff.

I fly a lot more than I GV.

I know what modes are. I've been using multiple modes for almost a decade now. When my joystick only had 8 buttons on it I would toggle multiple modes like a shift button to double my capabilities.

What I have set up now I don't want to screw with. I don't want to switch modes just for GVs, and I don't want to screw up my mouse in all modes. I only want mouse click fire when in that new gunner position HTC coded.

Almost every other game out there does it that way and I keep falling back into that habit with no result. I keep clicking and then remembering I have to do something else.

What you suggest doesn't work for me or my needs.

krusty, you're not paying attention...what i'm telling you is without any modifications, out of the box without changing modes, left mouse button fires any weapon position on a gv. you changed something that is now forcing you to use the keyboard instead.

gyrene81 - I think you missed Krusty's point - He has AH mode 1 for everything - Doesn't use AH mode 2 for GV's
In short he has opted out!

OK it must be his type of mouse then - I just checked mine in Mode 1 and my mouse did not fire with left Button either (I did not disable all mouse controls) My mouse Did fire in Mode 2. I then did what I have written below and it fixed it.

Krusty Can get the mouse left button to fire (when in a GV mode1) - If he goes to map controllers in AH and sets in Mode 1 (Global) his mouse button 0 to primary. I think he will find it is either not assigned at the moment.

Krusty - try it and see - just that one thing in AH and I really don't think it will make any difference anywhere else.

Please note I do not use mouse look in aircraft, and for this check did not disable all mouse controls

Check controller mapping and make sure button 0 is mapped to fire.

This version maps it that way as default, but if you had the game installed before this version you will have to map it.

I think pushing on the mouse wheel shoots the primary.
