Smoke trails
« on: July 15, 2001, 12:23:00 PM »
I'll bring this up again cause its a puzzelment to me, I mentioned in a past post that the P-51, at least in my experience with it, only trails smoke from the rear of the aircraft no matter what has been damaged. In the former post someone replyed that in the ride of their choice they get cockpit smoke and fire ect. What have the rest of you experienced with your fav ride and the trailing smoke issue, have you seen smoke in the cockpit and/or fire? Or do u only see smoke trailing from the six of your aircraft.

Countless books have been written with 1st person accounts of the pilot seeing his adversary bail because the cockpit area was on fire or filled with smoke, seems to me that here the fight continues on regardless because of the lack of this happening, this would be one of those small points that could add a reality situation to our fights that would make the game more interesting.

You plug the dude a good one the cockpit fills with smoke/fire and the opportunity to tuck under and rool up on your six is gonna be a lot tougher as it would have been in WWII!

What are the communitys thoughts on seeking this addition out?

Salute Tyro!

In the F4u-1d you can see the smoke in the cockpit if you slow down enough.  While in flight it usually is hard to see in the cockpit but once you slow to land and get the thing landed the smoke filters up thru the cockpit. More than once on approach to landing I have yelled at the squaddies on RW "cough cough.. can't see cough cough.. smokey.. roll the fire truck.. cough cough" and they laugh at my dumb bellybutton  ;)
