Tthe B70 only crashed because some guy was dumb enough to let the photographers influence him to fly in the wing tip vortices of a monstrously heavy plane.

I'm the worst pilot ingame ya know!!!

It's all unrealistic crap requested by people who want pie in the sky actions performed without an understanding of how things work and who can't grasp reality.

I find epic struggles against long odds very appealing, classic underdog. Thus the F4F Wildcat during Guadalcanal days, out numbered and out matched against the Zero and Betty bombers, yet prevailing. Or the Spit during Battle of Britain days. Clearly the Me-109 and Fw-190 series against America daylight raiding during 1943 and 1944.

As for pilots and leaders, my hero is Commander (retired as a Captain) David McCampbell leading CAG-15 off the USS Essex. Highest scoring Navy ace of all time, 34 confirmed kills. In one hop he killed 9 Japanese planes. He flew the venerable F6F Hellcat and made it look easy. I loved his book, McCampbells Heros and his leadership. This was part of the great Naval raids where 200+ Hellcats would decimate a Japanese field or harbor and end all resistence within minutes. I love squad tactics.

Modern day aircraft, you have two types: The F-14D and everything else is target practice. Not the best pure dogfighter but in the hands of a skilled Division (four planes) they would trash anything that flew. Everything else is cheap theatrics.

Gauntlet thrown down...

B-70 was also the first US military aircraft to have an ejection capsule. When you ejected, very high hopefully, the entire cockpit lifted off the aircraft with the canards attached. It was thought that for long over ocean flights, the survivability of the pilots would be highly improved. The F-lll's incorporated it as well, much to the sad disappointment of many pilots wives & families. My Commander at Mtn Home AFB, Col Coleman  :salute, was permanently paralyzed because the air cushion/floatation bag did not deploy and they hit the ground hard while sitting in their seats. It was found to have had a depot level maintenance error, causing the malfunction. His wife won the law suit. Little compensation. As a rigger at Mtn Home we had little to do with that bird...no drag chute and cockpit ejection chute was vacuum sealed a depot. We supported Air Rescue & Packed transient drag chutes.
