took me a couple of tours to get accustomed....at first I scaled them heavily and as each day/week went by I changed it till I was comfortable....at first I was all over the show...the next thing I had to get out of was not taking my foot off the pedal...would wonder why I was flying slow and sideways and then realize my foot was still fully ruddered  hahaha....that last part I still find myself doing from time to time...it actually took longer to get this sorted than to learn how to use the pedals....but now...I can't do jack with a twisty..

Having gone from TM pedals to twisty (first a craptastic logitech, and then and ever since, a MS FFB2) I do miss the fine control pedals provide, especially when you want to hold a specific yaw - harder to do with a twisty.

I found pedals intuitive to use - just push which foot which way you want to yaw.  I've adjusted to the twisty, but in turn it has lessened my ability to fly well one of my favorite rides - the P-38. Need to pony up for a gameport to usb adapter for my pedals and see if AH likes that combo.

Stick with the pedals, you'll love them and can't believe the difference they're going to make. 

I've heard pro/con about CH pedals, but that was way back. Now? I dunno.  Does thrustmaster still exist even? Except for a weak return spring (easily replaceable) it worked like a charm and was wider than the CH pedals of the day.

As with anything in this game, a change takes a long time to become second nature.  As the others have said, it'll get better after the initial unfamiliarity, and once you get used to them, there are a lot of things that are easier to do than with a twisty, like keep a constant rudder through a maneuver independent of your stick inputs.

I had been flying with pedals for around a year and a half, and had to use a twisty at one point away from home.  It amused me greatly because every time I'd go to bank the plane, I'd kick the floor expecting a rudder pedal to be there.

I don't think I could ever get used to a twisty stick!  I'm not a RL pilot but have used rudder pedals since I first started in Air Warrior in 1998....

I can imagine that would very quickly educate your brain to tell you which pedal to press.

As a kid I used home made trollies (karts, soap box?) when your feet are on the front axle to steer i.e. left foot forward to go right. Later I learnt to fly gliders and recall the struggle I had keeping the thing straight on takeoff for the first couple of launches. - I very quickly got used to the "reversed" input - It sort of focused my attention!

Driving an M3 or jeep around (offline) might help.

I prefer the pedals as well. And as been said, being a pilot in RL helps.
But, I've found that having pedals aren't as big a help as I first thought they would be.  For one thing, for most flying you don't really need much if any rudder input. I've found the ball stays fairly centered most of the time. 
However there are times when having the pedals are extremely helpful. Taking off or landing on a turning CV for example.  A breeze with pedals, can be difficult with a twisty sitck.  And when you want to skid (cross control) to lose altitude having pedals makes it much easier.

When I first started taking flying lessons I had been using a twisty stick in AW for a long time. When I taxied my nephews 172 I initially had to sit on my hands to prevent the urge to go for the Cessna's twisty rudder!!!

Its uncommonly natural to want to use your feet....you drive a car and you had to learn how to move your feet without looking right? Same thing just in a virtual airplane. Keep working at it.
