That's a beat-to-hell museum piece. You can see the entire airframe needs refurbishing, including the armored glass, even the cockpit frame is cracked and missing chunks of metal.

I feel people put waaaay too much emphasis on rivets on some skins. Waaaaay too much. You want some eye candy, but you don't want to make it look like a 1800's steam locomotive.

i kept my skins subtle but the effects are indeed present. think of human skin. LOTR golum in particular the method is to depict what is underneath the skin because skin is translucent.

thin aircraft aluminum has similar properties even though it is opaque the result of hinting at what lies beneath is highly effective means of achieving photorealism.

if you know what your depicting and how it looks based on the real aircraft it makes making it subtle just a matter of lowering the opacity and fill of a couple layers.

most people are unable or unwilling to put forth the effort required to do this and to justify their ability or attitude they say its stupid.
