Quite a few.   I still recall in either 90 or 91, one of the magazines did a head to head on the Mustang GT and the Corvette.    The GT had a faster 0-60 and IIRC a faster 1/4 mile.   Not too shabby.

Truth be told.  I would have no problem owning a Vette.

 i agree with the corvette.

as much as i love my mustangs(have i told you guys i love mustangs?)  if money were no object, and i could go out, and pick the top of the line model of any ford or chevy i wanted.....i'd buy the corvette hands down.

that being said....when i do manage to afford my gt....i'll spend time picking on the corvette guys too.  :noid :neener:

I posted the magazine story. Figured to get some healthy discussion going. Most has been interesting. Always fun to have the old late 60s rivalry going. Your use of name calling just shows your weakness in the ability to have a fun discussion. I did not read your post because it failed in the first sentence.

That's cute. If you want a fun healthy discussion, don't start with a troll ' mustang is probably toast' troll title,  backed by said statement. You don't make friends in a biker bar by stepping thru the door and throwing a mamoth firecracker on someone's neck.

Since you didn't read my post I'm going to cry, cancel my AH subscription, and move back in my mom's basement. bah who the heck cares. Purse fight!

actually, it's much more fun to toss a bunch of firecrackers strung together into the midst of a bunch of people. be ready to tun.  :bolt: :bolt: :airplane:

:devil  there ya go. 7 years with no competition. soon as they brought in something to compete, they did what they've almost always done, and snuffed out that fire.  :neener:

Oh no... the fire is blazing and the stang is getting burned :P

It will just get worse next year with the new camaros coming out.

Hopefully it'll be just like the late 60s and ford will step up again. It's fun the ebb and flow... along with pickin' and grinnin'. :D

that's just it....ford doesn't have to step up. the camaro is already slower. the gt easily handles the equilieant camaro, the shelbys easily handle the equilivant camaros, and the v6's are faster.

by the time chevy releases the faster camaros, there'll already be faster mustangs. try to remember. the 5.0L has already proven itself on the track. the 6.2 not so much as yet.  :devil

Ford is so confident in the performance and quality of the production Mustang that they sell for street use that they refuse to provide any specifications to NHRA to allow their production car to race in Stock Eliminator or Super Stock. The only thing they send to compete in drag racing is a bunch of ringers, cars you cannot even buy for street use. They pay NHRA to accept them with ludicrous HP ratings to make them competitive.

i'm sure chevy's done their fair share of that.

that said....i was referencing the road courses. at watkins glen, the lead mustang easily walked away from the camaro on two consecutive restarts, both in the straight away, and on the first turn, whilst the camaro was still in some form of striking distance.

just outta curiosity......they kept mentioning the new, or repositioned spoiler on the camaros helping. who cried about that? chevy, holden, or the teams running them?  :devil

Ahh but Ford did accept money.

This year mustang upped the ante with more horsepower as the V6 camaro was almost an equal of the mustang GT with a V8. that was a plus but they then changed the rear end of the car to... well I have no idea what they were thinking. Camaro keeps them coming with the new 40 year annivesary edition and early next year the ZL1. Following later will be the Z28.

I'd hate to see the mustang go the way the camaro did for awhile. I'm truely hoping they find some success to keep them coming too.

My main reason for posting was to nag Cap a bit. Always fun needling eachother between car makes. :)
funny since the original new camaro couldnt out accelerate, outbrake, or outturn the mustang... gotta love what a year or so of upgrading can do eh?
