Looking at the skid marks, it seems that there were actually 3 vehicles involved.  The Porche was in a skid with the nose pointing slightly left (understeer) trying to correct.  The other two were behind, one in front of the other.  After the Porche went into the woods it looks as if the other two cars that had been following slammed on the brakes and maintained control.  I'm guessing some form of street race.

Look at the other braking marks next to the scene - I bet he was racing someone. If the car in front made an emergency stop, Dunn might have floored the brake, lost control and hit the ditch.

If you didn't like him, at least have the respect to say 'I didn't like him, but may he rest in piece'
instead of coming here and saying 'that guy was a D-bag, F him'.

Those of you who have argued here, go drive yourself (and your family) off a cliff.

As for the man and passenger who have both lost their lives, rest in piece, you will be missed.

Wow..

I don't think I've ever seen so many people stick up for a drunk driver before.

Let me ask this; If he wasn't some B-list celebrity who made you chuckle with some vulgar humor on cable TV, would you all still be sticking up for and eulogizing him?

Let's be honest here, drunk drivers (especially ones who speed too) are usually universally despised, why does this guy get a pass?  Because he's dead? Because he's famous (sorta)? Because you like his show?

What he did was stupid, dangerous, and put dozens of other lives at risk.  I'd rather he was suffering some nice mental torment and anguish wherever his soul is now, then "resting in peace."  I don't think he deserves to rest in peace just yet, not till he's had a least a taste of suffering.  But that's not up to me.

Sure I feel bad for his family and friends who are mourning.  But that doesn't lessen the wrongfulness of what he did.

The 2 other set of skid marks you see are from a semi locking his brakes up.

Most everyone has never met Ryan Dunn, am I sticking up for drunk driver...no. But a RIP is too much? Some people actually liked his work and what he did for a living, but I guess its too much to say RIP. Comparing Ryan Dunn to Hitler and Stalin is pretty sick and horrible analogy. The guy died, he died drunk driving, but he still died. I'm sure all of you have done something stupid and reckless in your life to put others at risk, but who knows, all of you are perfect little angles as well.

Sorry for bringing the news here to your perfect safe haven, for supposedly announcing the death of a modern day hitler/stalin.  :lol

He may have been a love muffin but there is no reason to celebrate his death.  We all make mistakes in life and most of us have dead friends who went out with a big mistake.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

I don't think that anyone is celebrating his death, and that would be uncalled for.

But you guys are freaking me out!  :bolt:

I don't care if he was Mother Theresa ... He killed someone ... Granted he didn't plan on it ... but flying off the road at 140+ with alcohol in your blood is NOT an accident.

Keith Ledger dies from overdose ... sad
Ryan's passenger dies from crash ... sad
Ryan killing someone ... not sad (could even have killed more)
James Dean killing himself speeding in his 550 ... not sad (could have killed more)
Marilyn Monroe dies from pills ... sad
Does that really makes sense to only me?

I don't drink and drive, not even after 1 glass of wine. So is my wife. Did I ever drive with alcohol in my blood? Never. Talking to people here in the US, I feel like the only one that never did drugs, not even smoke marijuana once. Did I ever drove 100+ on a public road, yes haven't done it for the last 15 years, not planing on doing it.

Might be a surprise to most, but some of us actually walk the talk and walk the line. There's no such thing as I'm not a theft, I only took an orange. Doesn't mean none of us were always angels, but we decided to take responsibility for our actions at some point.

again just to make sure ...he killed someone...  :frown:

There is no mention of alcohol in the police report (yet).  If you have ever had the experience, 140mph is fast enough to make the dashed lines on the highway into a solid line.  It is also fast enough that it is plenty dangerous without having been drinking as the reaction time needed to avoid or correct for mistakes is 5x that of 55 mph.

Even if it turns out that he WAS intoxicated, his passenger made a conscious decision to get in the vehicle with him.

This does not mean that I condone driving while intoxicated, it is stupid, dangerous, reckless (among other adjectives I cannot use on this forum).

If he would have killed someone else (not in the vehicle with him), then one could cry foul.  We're talking about grown men, here.  If one decided to get into the vehicle, secure in the knowledge that the one about to drive was piss drunk, at that very moment he gave up all rights and expectations of safety.

If one is stupid enough to:

1) Not try to stop an intoxicated person from driving

2) Actually get into the vehicle with a driver that is intoxicated

one gives up the right to blame the driver for any injuries/death that could occur.

You can't fix stupid...
