After over a month of no computer when my hard drive took a royal dump, I finally got a new one today.  I've only been able to visit the bbs via my phone and have missed being your target immensely.  Now I'm off to download the game & get all set up so I can take to the cartoon skies tomorrow night!  Gotta put in my video & sounds cards and power supply.  It's a stock HP so I gotta muscle it up before playing.  See ya's soon friends & fiends.

Thanks all.  Op went good.  It's back on.  Can't see it because it's all wrapped up.  Even though I'm left handed, I never realized how much I did right handed that I can't do at the moment.  Will post some cool pics when they let me outta here.  Helluva way to start the week, huh?  Still going to work tomorrow, so it will be interesting being the one-armed bandit.  Thanks all again for the well wishes.  It was NOT the way I had intended this supposed-to-be happy thread to go.

Man, I'm glad it went well Ranger. I just got back to work from a mere broken right index finger so I can relate to the amount of stuff you do that you all of a sudden can't. What sucks for me is opening twisty bottles still hurts but it's nothing a bottle opener won't fix. You find a way around these little impediments. Improvise, adapt, overcome. Like Gunny Highway says.

Hang in there bro and get well soon. Follow your doctor's orders and try to be as completely useless as possible around the house. I tried to help out folding laundry one day, dropped a shirt, instinctively grabbed for it---and punched the edge of the table in front of me. "Ouch! Gosh golly gee willikers!", I said (not really). Set me back a couple more weeks. So don't do like friggin---anything! hehe

  Glad to hear the reattachment went well,been there done that myself,the rehab is important as soon as possible get yourself some silly putty or a small ball of wax and squeeze it all the time. This will help get the strength back and some of the dexterity!

  It's gonna hurt for awhile......enjoy the meds while you can.....




   

  PS: dont make a habit outta the meds or cutting fingers,neither are good for you!

I'll be ok going back to work tomorrow. Just hurts like hell. Got too many kids at home to miss work. As for the meds, they kept making me throw up so I'll just suck it up without em. Thank you for the well wishes. Like I said, this thread was supposed to be much different. Ya know what? Now that I think about it, I should have had them sew it back on upside down. Warning!

the mobo power connector on alot of HPs looks like an ATX power connection but it isnt - they have completely different pinouts despite using the same connector. this means that at best, it wont start up. at worst you'll fry the mobo and/or PSU.

before you plug it all together you need to download the service manual for the PC and make sure the power pinout is exactly the same as the PSU pinout (ATX standard.)



edit: since you cant type great atm, just tell me the exact model HP you've got (model# is best) and I'll check the pinout for you

Thanks fellas. So far work is going ok today. This morning I made sure to jump on that same saw and cut some boards just to get over that mental hurdle. I cussed it out the entire time too. I'd like to try to fly tonight but  the bandages on my trigger finger makes it the size of a king size corndog. Will be interesting.
