Minecraft PC Game
« on: July 03, 2011, 08:52:56 AM »
Now you may have heard of this game. I've been having fun with this game it's a load of fun and very addicting. It was announced at E3 it was going to be on XBOX360. Anyway what the game is for who don't know. It's a block building creative making world. You can build to your minds desire. I've built aircraft carriers on this thing. If each square was to = half of a foot it would be real size. It's in the Beta right now. You pay something like $15 once then your done forever. It's questionable if 30 or older men or women would like this game. It's fun as hay though.(because we all love hay) If you have a young son or daughter though it's a very kid friendly game. Mostly a singleplayer game though unless you make a server.

You can create your own servers, that your family and friends can play on. You can download it or just play the free version on the http://www.minecraft.net/ website.

I've been looking at minecraft for a long time now.  It looks good, but I'm worried that I'll grow bored.  I watch the Yogscast, though.  They're hilarious!

Me and my best mate have been looking for a good reliable server, mind if we hop in sometime?

The game is limited ONLY by your imagination and free time.
Some people have made simple computers and alarmclocks within the game.

You can learn a lot about simple circuits as well.

Some prefer to create grand castles or huge bridges, massive towns or TO SCALE
sculptors and arwatermelonecture found in the real world. I simply prefer to roleplay as
the last man on the world -- collecting supplies from the land and constantly
building and improving on my humble abode. Each different 'world' I've played in, my
houses have been considerably different and unique.

VERY fun game, great for all ages. Think of it as advanced legos with environments and
physics thrown in.

My favorite thing about the game was mining (as the title suggests  :D). Some people like to play like survivalists living off the land, some like to build towns, some like to build mega-structures and statues, some like the online role-playing aspect, but I'm the kind of guy who'll be underground for hours at a time only surfacing to stash all my loot and to get more wood. I started learning circuits and such in hopes of being able to create a reliable minecart system but the task was just not that feasible at the time.

I played on an excellent server for a while where they role-played and built cities together. It was pretty wild, they eventually started working out plans to build a massive subway system that connected all the cities throughout the map. Unfortunately that community died due to drama.  :( I'd really like to start playing again with a good group of people on a good server sometime, but it's too hard to find those good servers.

Definitely a build your own fun thing.  Airflyer and I rent a Server from Servercraft (Little overkill being that it's a 16 player server for 3 people) and have a world of mayhem right now, one thing gets built then moved on, or blown up....or both.  Building is where I normally get the fun, which is troublesome when TNT is a certain someones favorite item.  We have a few large buildings, and an extensive Railway system (~2Km) to connect em. :)

It took you (or anyone else for that matter) THIS long to post about it?  Now you may ask, "Why didn't YOU post something about it?". Answer is easy, "Too busy being ON IT.". :D  I was watching SeaNanner's (The one who got me to get Minecraft) playing it, that is when I stumbled onto Lewis and Simon (YOGSCAST). :lol  The Shadow of Israphel is funny as hell.  I've also watched all of their Minecraft uploads, and some of them made me laugh so hard that I literally could not see because my eyes were so teared up. :rofl :rofl

The thing about Minecraft is, for me, I WILL get bored with it after a little while.  I will log off and do something else for a little bit but then it hits....the itch.  I'll start thinking of something to build, then BAM!, I'm on Minecraft, TRYING to build it. :lol  What can help with the bordem are mods and texture packs.  If anyone who has Minecraft and hasn't taken a look, DokuCraft (Texture Pack) is really nice.  Armor and Zombies are not done/finished, but the rest if it looks fantastic. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/207781-32x17-dokucraft-23-beta-450k-downloads/  Until 1.7 came out, I had the NOW MOD.  Oh boy...that was a doozy.  I had a bit of fun using that MOD plus it came with it's own Texture Pack.

I've been thinking about joining a server however, it's not easy finding a server where the OP is willing to "start from scratch".  It takes a LONG time to gather some resources and until recently, the only way to get Netherrack, Soul Sand and Glowstone was to have the OP /give it to you.  Now Nether Portals work in MP.  Using the /give command.....I just don't feel it.  When I mine enough Diamond for full Diamond Armor, Weapons and Tools, yeah...a good feeling. :aok

I sadly can't build on my map until the SDK mod is updated. The maps got some kind of Corruption error so I can't play on it until the gun mod is updated. CRYS....found a whole cave system in my new map though of just sand and sandstone 80 blocks undergound.

With the resources Lego has and that they've obviously been pouring into their Lego Indiana Jones and Lego Star Wars games they could make a real Lego game that would put Notch out of business.

It took you (or anyone else for that matter) THIS long to post about it?....

I've seen at least three other threads on the game, including one I started myself...

They all died quick. Not enough interest here perhaps.

We could start a CoD vs Battlefield thread, that'll get to 20 pages by Wednesday.

Me and my best mate have been looking for a good reliable server, mind if we hop in sometime?

I only have the server up for me, my brother, and sister, and a few friends right now. I have been thinking about letting more people in but there are a few problems with that.

1: I don't know how many people my server and computer will support before it just crashes.
2: The server is not dedicated and I only have it up whenever I'm online.

There are already made servers for people that you can manage that are free unless you want more people on em.
