Factories retreat to rear
« on: July 04, 2011, 11:43:37 AM »
Could somebody please explain to me what "Factories have retreated to the rear" means? I've never been able to get a straight answer and it seems most people speculate instead of giving fact.

Thanks!

Factories refer to the city strat complexes.  Each country has one, but they are located in one of two places.  When a new map starts, they will all be towards the center of the countries bases, closer to the front lines.  If your country starts loosing bases, the city strat will move to a safe location towards the rear of the map.

So the factories physically change location when this occurs?

yes. It helps cut down on the enemy capturing a base right next to the factories and make short runs all night keeping them porked.

In a heartbeat.  One minute it's a sprawling cityscape, the next it's a barren field with a river running through it.

There was a huge mission up once (I thinks swoops was leading it) to attack strat.  They were over target and many had already dropped their ords.  At the same time, the nits captured one of the bish bases, forcing the factories to the rear before a bomb even hit.  :rofl

does this effect the the resupply times of the front line bases?

I thought that when the factory retreats it make longer resupply time on the front line.

I highly doubt it.  The bases are supplied by fixed-length roads.  I believe the only factor that affects resupply time is how damaged the corresponding strat factory is for the supply type needed (ammo, troops, radar, etc.).

I was once in a large strat bomber mission.  While we were lining up on them about 10 miles out our countrymen captured a field or two and they retreated to the rear.  We were pretty upset at fate for that.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

What would b the benefit of say, actually forming one of our famous bish horde missions, specifically targeting a nations factories. And what kind of numbers would it require?

I ask mainly to see if it might b done some rare time....i remember a ghi mission with something like 40 sets of b26s, it was epic as all hell. 163 screaming through, fighters of allllll make, tracers in ever view.

Just wondering if it be productive, as well as obviously epic, to get several sets of 17s or other medium/heavy bombers n target all of a nations factories on a single mission.

Sorry, noobish I know, but I love the mass bomber missions, n am curious about the mother of them all.

so what would it take to do, and is there any other reason than fun factor that could justify such a massive mission (as if u needed more ;) )

Ty in advance,

you need a lot in the arena for it to happen.  Go for it.
