Just chalk up those losses to "realism".  Your engine blew up, or you had a heart attack, or your wing fell off, or you were victim of friendly fire, or you had a mid air collision with a V2, or that volcano you flow over erupted, or your canopy came off and you were sucked out w/o a parachute, etc etc.
