Got a little while bailey. Need my shotgun licence first.

What really matters to me is suitability for game shoots, something quite formal over here in England. Turning up with an over/under is considered slightly bad form and turning up with an auto is just unthinkable. Not a lot of point in autos over here anyway as they are limited to 2 round magazines. Shuff, handguns of any sort other than antique muzzle loaders are completely illegal, no matter what licence you have...

In your country that is true. In the free world we can have handguns. :)

here's a pic:

I'd get it in double trigger though, not SST. I'd like if the action had a little more engraving but the price would be far higher...

That is beautiful.

Actually im glad they havent taken that away from you gents yet  :aok

Nice pics Biggles, Im away from home atm, but when i get back, ill talk to my friend. Only problem ive ever seen with a Beretta shotgun ( better grades ) is extractor issues. Beretta ALWAYS makes good on any issue you may have with their higher grade guns. I have a friend that had an issue with his EELL, Beretta paid to have the gun shipped back to them, fixed it, and he had it back on the course in about a week.

When you shoot, is it game birds or clay pigeons?

Shoot both. What I like about the gun is that it looks a lot more expensive than it is. In terms of extractors I've heard it's very reliable, and it has the option to turn the extractors off too which is nice, saves picking up hulls after each drive!!

Sadly so. I'd love to see an intelligent way of them being re-introduced with secure licensing but I don't think it will ever happen after the shootings that have happened. :(

That is beautiful.

Thankyou! It caught my eye immediately!

...Turning up with an over/under is considered slightly bad form ...

May I inquire as to why this is so (please forgive my ignorance)? I do have to add I dislike over under shotguns because of the way they appear. I much prefer the look of side-by-side shotguns; purely an aesthetic thing with me.

Mainly because game shoots are a very traditional sport here, where the norm is to turn up with the side by side that your great grandfather shot. Over/unders are now very popular over here, infact shooting clays you probably won't see anyone with a side by side, but on a formal game shoot they're still 'new', if you take my meaning. Turning up with something like an auto or pump action would get you laughed off the estate... Thats just us stuffy Brits for you!

Of course if you're just doing some pigeon shooting with friends, an auto is great, although like I say, the largest magazine allowed without a section 1 firearms licence is 2 rounds (plus one in the chamber).

 Biggs,

would you be getting 2 different chokes on those barrels?

It would seem to me to be the way to go,1 barrel for close medium shots and the other with a full choke for longer ranging shots.

I'm not sure if you go to the trouble to be "fit" for the gun or if they're high end off the rack so to speak, but most of the $$$ shotguns are "fit" to their new owners. Have you looked at any Bennelli's{sp},they used to make a fine weapon.

I had a Beretta over/under for skeet shooting and quail hunting. I sold it for $500 more than I paid for it about 10 years after buying it.

Ive havent shot much at all but I found the side-by-side feels alot more unweildy than an over-n-under. its probably just psychological but the action of raising the gun fits better with the barrels being arranged vertically. ymmv :)

Yeah, interchangeable chokes, standard setup is 1/4 and 3/4, not sure what those are in the US but I'm sure you get the idea. Comes with great choke set that wouldn't take long to change if you had a lot of high birds coming in and you wanted both barrels with tight chokes. These things are generally right off the rack, it's only 3000 pounds. I say only, but a new H&H or Purdey gun made to order will set you back 70,000 pounds, as they are entirely hand made. They are to die for though...

I've actually shot over/under lots more than SxS at clay days etc. Usually SxS guns are lighter than o/u guns, but o/u's do have a greater 'pointability' due to their thinner sight profile which is the reason behind them being adopted worldwide for competitive shooting. If you're used to shooting o/u, switching would definitely feel unwieldy until you got used to it. The great advantage to SxS guns in the field is not only that they look better but they also weigh less, especially in 20-bore. Makes a big difference after 5 hours shooting!

Yeah. while that's true, once you have your eye in, a SxS shoots just as well, plus you look sh*t hot!
