didn't get to see it, although it'll be broadcast next week......but at the new jersey motorsports park thunderbolt raceway this weekend, ford has taken their 4th victory in the continental tire challenge.
this leaves us with bmw=3 wins, ford=4 wins, and chevy=2 wins. chevy hadn't won any of this series, till a couple of weeks ago, when an end of race full course caution kept the #61 boss302 from taking the leab back again.
the following weekend, the competitive ford teams were removed from contention due to wrecks(and an extended pit stop, putting one of them 15 laps down). this left only the bmw's to handle the chevys.....which they were unable to do.
the funny thing is that the winning teams crewchief was saying "see? it wasn't a fluke that we won last week!". but it was. sort of. the winning ford this weekend, started in 3rd, and took the lead on lap 15,,,,,,and held it for the rest of the race.
so....we had a ford on the pole, and a ford winning the race(2 different ones BTW) finish was ford/bmw/ford/bmw, till 8th where the only chevy in the top ten resided. in fact, it was the only one in the top twenty.
it was hot though. in cherry hill, where i work, about 45 miles from the track, it was about 100F outside......115F insdie the shop......i'd imagine that the tract temps were in the 130F to 150F range, so possibly the chevys couldn't take the heat. in more ways than one.
