you shoulda heard me go off on the service manager at a local ford dealer, when they wouldn't work on her mazda protege...which we all know is an escort....which she bought at said dealer......and this one had a ford control system in it, although mazda engine i believe.....but since it said mazda on the outside they wouldn't touch it.
and why i love my Protege so much. its a Ford built car.  ive only put money into a new (used) engine cause some tool put diesel in my coolant resevoir  :headscratch:, i snapped a head stud cause i was goin the cheap route to avoid buying a new head gasket (only a few bucks...), new brakes cause the factory brakes were worn out for good at around 115,000. my clutch is starting to slip, but yet again...thats a maitenance (generally).  I havent had to put anything in to other then maitenenace or fixing something i did out of stupidity. Ford has a solid car.

Ya got the backwards it's a protege thats' badged as a ford!!!! :neener: :neener: :neener:

I remember telling a dealer princeple that the nice shiney new probe in the showroom was a mazda,he opened the hood and showed me the ford stamping on the valve covers that read FORD and said "No it isn't". I walked away laughing knowing full well it was just a mazda 626 with some ford sidepanels slapped on for looks.

       :salute

the thing that got me with that one.....it had the cel on. mom's a typical woman with that stuff....she went into panic mode when she saw it. when ford wouldn't touch it, i brought my snap on scanner home, because i don't have any asian software for non-obd2 cars in my otc.....got home, and couldn't find the mazda connector. that would probably be due to the fact i needed the ford2 connector for eec4.

in all honesty, although i wouldn't want to own that car.....it's a 1.8L DOHC, with a 5 speed......god bless mom.....71 and still wants her clutch car!
but anyway......it's a snappy little car....nimble through the turns, or just lane changine, and pretty peppy for a tiny engine.

mom's protege is finally showing some age. she got it with around 60k on the clock. it's showing in the 170's now, and still runs like a top. when i go to visit her and my brother in florida, normally, she comes to get me at the airport.....but she has trouble driving at night.......so i get to drive us back to my brothers.
my niece loves my driving.....she says i drive like daddy. she doesn't know i taught daddy to drive, much to mom's chagrin.  :devil i think my driving's good for mom's heart. it always seems to beat a lil faster when she rides in a car with me. i can't figure out why though.  :uhoh

UGH!  Nope!  I'd stopped into the dealership yesterday to make sure we had our ducks in a row for everything.  Insurance squared away, incentive details, interest rate on the amount I'll be financing and such.  They were expecting it on Thursday still which was fine.  When I received a call from them today I was slightly annoyed because I hadn't locked up which insurance company I'd be using for this car yet and I'd get back to him when I had.  When he said the car was in I about jumped through the roof and can hardly remember the last time I was so excited about something.  I'm thrilled, the extra surprise that it's in early is even better and the fact that I told a car company "build this" and they did was even better.  I'm truly excited and I will be a happy camper come saturday.

Thanks Skuzzy, Dicho, Cap.  Yaaay!  (Sorry for stealing your thread again, CAP)

they'd be easy to get if you're not paying attention Morf.  I had some slow boat get in front of me this morning so changed lanes as I sped up, it dropped into passing gear and the rest is history  :devil  fortunately there were no LEO's handy at the time.
