so the dealer in va got back to me today. they worked miracles with the pricing....got me down to a very excellent price, for the car they were pricing me out at....but even with 10k down, the best payment they could get me was higher than i'm comfortable with.
so i called the local dealer again, and was talking to them. i'm gonna go in to talk with them tomorrow night again. they've already got me approved, so it should be rather easy.
one of the things i was talking about though, was the "looks" options versus the "functional" options. i like the rear wing, and the front air dam on these cars. it wakes em up, and kinda takes me back to the 60's cars. but i can't afford to put the "looks" options on, and the functional ones too. dam that common sense talking sales dood.
in talking to him, i'll be pricing it out with the good brake package(which comes with a more aggressive suspension tune). that by itself costs about as much as it would for me to add the wing, air dam, and a scoop...all of which do nothing but add weight. i had explained to him, that this car would eventually see either the road course at milleville nj, or some autocross action, although the main usage would be street driving. that's where the common sense came in.
when i told him i was thinking of the standard brake package, and then bank on the fact that i may not be as good of a driver as i like to think i am, thus i should never manage to fade the brakes, or overheat them.....he comes back with "but do you really want to take that chance? i'd think you'd be better off with too much brake ability, and not need it, rather than find out the hard way(when you go off the track) that you didn't have enough when you did need it."
that pretty much sold me, 'cause it made me think of all the analogies we use flying(golfer i'm sure knows a ton!). so it appears as if i'm gonna look into a rather plain looking car for the time being, but with major coolness inside, and major performance abilities compared to the more standard gt's.
in a way, plain on the outside is better.....sleeper.
